Polytechnic Music

RP is not a slack school!!! :0 LOL jkjk
But yeah, RP had malay rock legends come to their poly
And TP? Well, we got Sleeq
And I went to SP open house once with my gf and well, I think they don't support metal too
Cause I swear! The lead guitarist of one band was out of his element.
He was a Power Metal guitarist, in a Maroon 5 cover band
And his pedalboard was FTW

Did you know Maroon 5 were originally metal...?

lol yeah you cant totally blame TP, majority of the peeps there dont really appreciate metal or heavy stuff, music played probably must be played to appeal out to the vast majority..or else..surely no business...you're better off playing with your band outside school imo :)

empty vessels make the most noise.

Go out and play some music, you may actually make it instead of complaining or whining down here. Or go raise it up to the school. I'm sure they'll definitely take feedback in good heart.

Threadstarter , I'm here to defend SP . Metal is good music but idiots like you tend to get all "oh my music is cooler than yours" about it . Now i know for a fact that SP is very open to that genre , infact one of the most featured bands in SP happens to play heavy metal . I've played a few heavy songs myself too in SP during the open house and for other school related events .

Tell you what , let me have a listen to your band and if you can play as good as you complain , I'll recommend you to the people that organise events in SP so that your band has a place to perform . My question is , have you even performed live before and I'm not talking pay to play shows. Have you been invited to do a show , if you have not it could possibly mean that your band just sucks so stop blaming the world. Posting on SOFT won't solve anything .

actually can't really blame the polys..
it's just that post-hardcore/metal scene are underground..
not much mainstream popularity..
well, maybe few years time it'd be more accepted.
but for now, naahh.
though it's sad cause there are talented metal/hardcore bands out there.

I totally agree with Zax, do something about your music and let it speak for itself rather than whining on a music forum.

My band faces attitude when we play shows in school - which is expected and not wanting to brag or anything but hell we did work hard to get shows and we even played alongside bands like west grand boulevard, 2 deafcons and even a gig at esplanade(which we missed due to me sustaining an injury that time). im now playing for another band who just made it to the baybeats auditions. Just work hard to push your music and you'll actually get somewhere. Last thing i recalled, there werent any bands who made it big just playing shows in school...

Ask yourself, you go to a poly for what?

Play kvlt musicz and make everyone headbangz and moshxxx, or get a education/diploma.
The music scene in poly isn't everything that you have, because frankly if you can't get gigs outside, then playing heavy kvlt metal in school won't get you anywhere aswell.

Threadstarter: Noone can force you to play what you don't want, as referred to 'my old band force me to play mainstream'. Do what you please, find like minded people, do your thing, excel in your thing, if your thing is good, I'm sure not everyone would hate it.

Can you guess what thing is?
