Hey guys, just doing a random survey.

For me I prefer buying online, more varieties and sometimes cheaper than getting here. Customer service from Keeley or Analogman or the manufacturerers tend to be quick and helpful.

So far I've got these over past 2 years.
Keeley Ibanez AD-9
Pedalworx Dirty Angel
Budda Bud-Wah

How are your experience from ordering online? Post your 2 cents. 8)

never bought efx online but I have bought recording gear from Music 123

Cheaper and quicker than local distributors/retailers and delivered right to yr door.

I bought Sonar 5 when it was first released from Music 123. It arrived via UPS in 4 days. At the same time I asked the local distributor about availability and price....to buy locally I would have had to wait 2 months and spend an extra couple of hundred bucks. why would anyone buy it locally?!

Most people I know have had similar experiences. Local distributors that dont have stock or never even bother to answer emails then have the cheek to charge more for it when it arrives.

Hi,

i think depends on heng (lucky) suay (unlucky) lo...
i know ppl got phobia of it after bad experience. i have none so far, and yes, sometimes can get cheaper.

haha, before too much local dealers bashing goes on. How about some local dealers come in and voice out on the pathetic local market...

anyway, if i can, i buy over the net. If i can't, then too bad.

Brundisium, its not the fault of the local market dealers. There's simply no market here.

How many of you right now, right here, will slurge $350 on a pedal? A good one, How many of us would slog and save to buy that new axe?

alamak, that was what i wanted to say lah, the pathetic local market.

many will spend that amount or even more to buy something to be put on the floor and step on, but i don't think much come from here though. Just my observation, no intention to be proven wrong or burnt alive:lol:

hehe, i totally dig ShredCow's reply... for unrich folks like muah, i have to research like tons of similar products and read the reviews, then call all over and look see look see, and press until my calculator catch fire then can decide whether i should get that bloody axe, pedal, multi-efx or watever... haha

Hey Turtlebiscuit, I dig your reply too, I feel you, I do. I dont' earn much myself but if I want something, I will spend on it. I might have problems with having a weekly movie, but I'll give that up. As long as I don't starve, why not?

The thing is that locally, not many of us will go to that extent. You want your gear, you save, you scrimp, even if it takes you MONTHS, you will do it because you love it!

wow.. you have a analogman modded ds1?? how much does it cost total?? the ds1/super soundclip sounds really killer.. the type of sound i like..

thks
jy

well, i got it for USD92 with shipping. :) 2nd hand but DEAD MINT!

So far, its everything that the DS1 should have been... its fundanmentally as DS1 (as the clips on analogman show) but much improved. Tighter bass, much less fizz, and DAMN DYNAMIC. The thing actually cleans up well, and switching from series to split, the changes are obvious.

Will record soon... with a stock DS1 and an MIJ... :)

Still, I think the MIJ DS1 sounds warmer... and the problem of noise thats inherent in the DS1 circuitry is still there lah. :(

But for the price, its definately something...

i will buy efx online. coz it's something that will likely be quite standard, no need to test run like a guitar where there are complicated things like set up etc.

I have had experience working at local music store so how is the market I think I know quite abit. But the point of the thread is to post your experience, which are the ones we might need to avoid, not to bash for the sake of bashing.

Hmmm.... I've bought parts overseas... that Gotoh trem, Gotoh Delta tuners. Thing is, you MUST order from reliable dealers. And if possible, pay a little more for insurance. :D

So far, I've ordered.

DS1 Ultra and Ibanez AD9 from Keeley. Took about 1 week. Keeley used to reply to mail fast last time, now abit not so responsive.

Budda Bud-Wah. Ordered from Music123. Surprisingly took about the same time as Keeley. Customer service-wise can't really rate as I didn't email them. In the first place, they are one of the only retailers who can ship the Budwah here. Used UPS with tracking. Shipping is very ex though. US$45. But Music123 charges the wah cheaper than others by US$25, so US$20 after "discount" for shipping ain't too bad.

Pedalworx Dirty Angel. Ordered direct. Bob Mcbroom was ultra responsive to email. Very good to deal with. However, the package took longer than I preferred. Close to 1 mth.

Non-Pedals

SED 6L6GC and EH 12AX7. Ordered from Tubedepot. Short attentive anwswers to queries. Shipped by Fedex. Extremely fast. Arrived in less than 60hrs which is a record for me. A #1 in my books.

Moody Leather strap. Ordered direct. Now they are more ex than last time. Customer service took very long to reply. But once they shipped they informed me. Not bad considered they are a super small company.

Hey lifehouse, how's the quality of the moody strap? :) Would be awesome to own a chrome leather strap... only 80 USD! ;)

We should a/b the analogman DS1 and keeley DS1 :)

I have plans to mod my DS-1 into a mega clipping buffet.

Gonna rehouse it and even stick a tube in it. When I'm done I'd love to join in and A/B with those too 8)
