Just a friendly discussion and throwing about of ideas amongst SOFTies here.

What new features would you like to see in SOFT?
Doesn't matter if it will actually be carried out or if James has the time or not due to his busy schedule. Just a friendly idea sharing session between users of the site on what they would like to see more of.

The fundamental difference being that this poll actually has its purposes (i.e. it benefits both you and me) and that I'm not actually a retard who needs to learn how to pronounce words like 'bass'.

This poll actually aids the moderators and owner of the site in getting feedback on the general consensus of the people who visit the site and can thus help them in future site planning.

Well, the framework that powers this board is kind of a mess. All the sites that use it -- and it is very popular, so there are many -- have the same sort of jumble and clutter. There doesn't seem to be any distinction between data (such as lists of music shops or studios) and discussions organized chronologically. E.g., you can see the list of studios, but it's circa 2005, and if it's edited, god only knows when. This is not James's fault, just the limitations of the system

Mind if I ask... If you guys think Van Halen's polls are unnecessary, why do you even vote or post on those threads? If they're really a waste of time and bandwidth, wouldn't replying and posting increase the bandwidth as well as waste more of your time? I seriously don't get all this anti-Van-Halen dissing.

eBay auction site? Hmm... the Buy Sell is already working as it is, although its not perfect. eBay... will be eBay. Not sure how this would exactly be done if ever implemented though.

Anyway, I think the moderators should clear old threads that have been unreplyed after 1 month or 2, to prevent people from thread digging, imo

About clearing threads with no replies for some time, I think they do, actually. My review for my Ibanez Sage completely disappeared some time back...

Try checking the archieves. At the bottom of the lage, there are display options. Most of our usual settings only display threads from the apst 2 months. If you bother checking frmo aeons back, well, you'll find that every single thread since day one of SOFT is still there.

Of course, with the Reviews columns as exception, I'm talking about permanenty deleting the threads so that it saves James the bandwidth, server space, and us from the agony of people thread digging threads that are two years old

soft ebay is not gonna work imo...it'll just bring more troubles...
imagine many ppl will b very kiasu n bid up the price, even tho they dun really have the intention (or not financially prepared) to buy it in the first place...
n eventually we'll c more threads complaining bout bad deals...
