Is it wise to polish frets w/ autosol polishing cream? I did it on the last 5 frets of my guitar, and its super shiny.... 8)

Use masking tape, tape up the fretboards, exposing only the frets. Use a few layers.

Use only a small dab of autosol per fret.

After you are done, take a clean cloth, pinch each fret with it to remove autosol at the sides of the frets.

Autosol can work wonders.

But be careful about taping up maple fretboards. Sometimes you'll end up pulling off the laquer together with the tape if you're not careful or leave sticky residue on it. Best way to avoid this is to de-sticky the tape by taping it to your shirt a few times first so that it will attract some lose strands of cotton.

What a good idea, I'll try it in the future. Reminds me of the NPCC people polishing their belt buckles and buttons.

use brasso.

Autosol is a cream, when it gets into the grain of your fretboard its hell to get it out.
and yes tape the fretboard before you do it

BUt if you use Brasso, you gotta let it dry into a powder... its liquid, would get into th efretboard more easily..
