POD farm amp modelling

Hey guys, I'm considering to get the POD UX2 to do some home recording of guitar and piano tracks.

What I wanna know is, how comparable are the amp models in the software, POD farm, to the real physical ones. Now I know they won't sound EXACTLY the same, but I wanna know how similar they are like, very close or very far, that kinda thing.

Comments on the software and hardware appreciated thanks!

At first you will realise that the sound seems abit too sterile. But you will need to tweak your own settings till you get the correct sound. I use a UX1, and used to use POD Farm, but moved to NI Guitar Rig due to my own preference. Other than that, the sound can sound really awesome..just check out the youtube videos. Oh, especially if you're using your own distortion pedal, you will need to tweak the amps to sound good with it. That takes quite abit of time.

to add i am very disappointed with the default amp model and tone for the bass. was thinking of upgrading to the bass pack but worried that i might get up

I've tried Amp farm, Guitar amp pro, Amplitube, guitar rig and the latest ones that come with Logic Studio.

All have produced impressive results.

My experiments usually come back with the same results...

Always sound so much better if you plug your guitar into an external preamp (Desktop or rack) to treat your tone before plugging into the audio interface...

I suspect the mic and line inputs are treated - sounds like the bit of compression you'll find on some Peavey amps, and the AD/DA convertors are decent for home production and I recommend it.

Best,
R.
