Please recommend me a guitar!

The SA260 gets my vote.

The single coils and humbucker will give you a good variety of tones...

The tone should be a balanced tone - rosewood fretboard is very bright with a (usually) warmer sounding mahogany.

You should get it by now - you can't get the best of both worlds, so I think the Ibanez SA is a great compromise.

Okay, guess I've narrowed down a little...

1) Ibanez SA260 (List Price $750)
2) Ibanez SAS 36 (List Price $1000)
3) Fender Fat Strat (List Price $960)
4) PRS SE EG S/S/H (List Price ??)

Anyone knows how much the PRS SE EG is going for? (thanks to Crawldaddy for recommending PRS)

Yep.. All now I have to do is to go to Swee Lee/Davis and try em out.

Will there be an sale for Swee Lee during Jun/Jul? I know they always have these crazy 50% sales...

Afrodisiak, no idea about the sale.

Do consider 2nd hand gear - if you are confident or you have an experienced guitarist friend into electrics.

I recall Ebenex music having a 2nd hand, great condition, Ibanez SAS32

PRS SE is highly recommended but it's not a fender/ gibson emulator. it's a good guitar per se. even the split humbucking tone is above-average. i love my PRS to bits but everytime i say this, there might be some retort from gibson fans... *cough, cough* :smt021

I've been browsing around soft's WTS section. But so far none of the guitars I listed have popped up. Anyway, I'm planning to buy sometime in May or Jun, so there's no hurry. I'll just drop by guitar stores and try them out until the staff gets pissed off. :D

Ebenex is darn far away man... East Coast. I'm staying in Sembawang.

I'm also thinking about starting lessons before I get my own guitar. This would probably allow me to better understand what kinda guitar I like and I would be able to test guitars properly. Flipside is that I won't have a guitar to practise with at home before buying... :?

i need help too!
ive got about 650 to spend
i was thinking of getting either a tele or lp cos i kinda like how it looks.
actually i wouldnt mind getting an sg too.

i have read many reviews online on the j&d lp copies.they say its slightly better den an epi.but im not too sure cos i dont really trust j&d.
getting a j&d would save me some extra cash tht can be spent on pedals or maybe put into my "gibson/jackson saving fund"

i havent done any research on teles.cos i kinda prefer lps to teles

Hey Afrodisiak,
my advice is that you might want to check out the PRS SE range. Can be found at Davis Guitar. They are exactly your price range and their quality is superb. I own a the Billy Martin SE model (which is a H-H) and frankly is it an amazing guitar, solid tone and workmanship is really good. The feel is great, easy to play and its not heavy at all compared to Les Paul type guitars.

The tonal range is amazing. Single Coil tone is there to some degree and humbucker tone is definitely present. Its a matter of switching between the neck and bridge pups with the 3way toggle. Coil tap the neck humbucker and you can achieve even more range.

It retails at $850 i believe at Davis and my friend the guitars of the SE range are hard to beat for versatility at the price. GO TRY EM! If youre not satisfied..at least you tried!

good luck!

Sub : is that a 72' deluxe tele?

or maybe i confused.

price range for that?

anw, i think a fat strat is good, 1 humbucker at the bridge. and switch to the other two for different soudns.

nope, that's Squier's Tele Custom... here's a butterscotch version:

sub: 1. That tele isn't available here (if it is, i would have bought it...), what you saw is its close sibling:
