Here I am again! This time with 2 brand new recordings hot off the press.

If you do choose to comment, please indicate which song and what part you are commenting on! My technique is varying quite a lot throughout these recordings, so it helps a lot. But general comments are welcome also!

You know, I am rather suspecting now that i might be a baritone.. I'm going to discuss it with my teacher tomorrow.

PS the end of the Chasing Cars chorus is a bit wimpy because I forgot the words..
PPS All vibrato in these clips is the "natural" vibrato.

I find that the melody is very flat. It could be the song or your singing.

Do you play any music instrument? Maybe you could play the melody of the song and sing on top of it to see if you are in tune.

If you do not play any instrument, I could help you record the melody if you can give me the score for it.

Thanks for your comments!

The first sing is a capella, and the second song, well you ought to know that one :) The first song has some unusual notes in it - "my dear johnny my dear friend" sounds out of place if you're not expecting it. It's originally by Joni Mitchell.

So that could be one reason it sounds odd .. and the other reason could be that I am flat ;)

How about my tone?

Commenting on Chasing Cars.

First. You sound really lazy singing that. Really bad air support. Breathe in deep and fill your lungs with 110% air!

Second. You sound like you're slouching. Sit/Stand straight when you sing.

Third. You started off fine in the beginning of the phrase, but then once you reach the mid of a phrase, you switch to using your voice and then try to make do with a 0.05% vibrato at the end. Singing it clear. Ditch the vibrato.

Here's me being constructive:

PUT SOME SPIRIT INTO IT! IT SOUNDS DEAD!

Thanks very much for your feedback :) There will be a new clip coming real soon now ..

The vibrato is not added, it's just coming from how I am singing. I think it's a BAD idea to try to stop it, because that adds tension to my voice.

Tnx for sharing btherl

The seconds song was ok. Well, it's a sad song so what best way to sing it. :D Can't comment on the first one though, I don't know the song. I try to listen to the original first then go back to your cover.

Keep on singing !

Before i say anythign, i not a pro singer, im just a music appreciater..hehe.

ANyway i judge from both of the songs, for me its sound the same. Mono, lazy, eerie, irritating.

Im sorry for being straightforward but i will say that ur voice do make me have a goosebump man, in a bad way. jus like wat khaihan say.....u sound lazy. Sing it lively man..i know the chasing car is a slow song and abit depressing type maybe. But hey sing it with passion.. what u did,for me is jus like you are saying out the words with abit tiny winy melody, u r not singing. And jus like khaihan said, try to stand up... i don really know the method ....but to compare it other singer, i dun think u use ur diaphram ..ok i not going to explain more coz i myself dun really know how to use my diaphram to sing...maybe u go for more classes and then post up a new lively version that won't make me shut my wmp with a relief. And anyway u sound like u r slurring the words ah?? i dunnoe man. And mayb u need to choose the right song , so far i dun really know wad song suit u now man...

I would like to apologize if my words affect u. Do treat it as a motivation man. It takes courage to intro to pple and asking for comment. And once again PEACE NO WAR!!! :)

:/ uhm... it does sound kinda on the dead side.... keep trying sweetie. :)

ps. I don't think you're a baritone; you sound like you'll have a better tone on a higher range.

Thanks for all the comments guys! Your feedback is really useful to me.

Yes I don't think I'm a baritone either. The darker tone just comes from the back of my tongue pressing down, which also interferes with my singing :( That's what we focused on in my last lesson, as well as my jaw's tendency to lock up around the middle C.

ermm.. hi..

i'm no pro in singing.. really an avg.. but... just try imagining this when you hear the clips again... make sure you clsoe your eyes..

imagine you're auditioning for SG Idol with these clips. OKae done. would you make it through..

if you're singing acapella may i suggest doing it in your own rendition.. faster tempo maybe.. erm.. if you're lying down.. stand up.. open your throat or clear it.. i think its going through your nose as well..

ouh.. n i dun think that's your genre.. you should try jazz... those classic ones or even opera.. and your voice is deep.. you could try to explore to hit high notes..

so there it is.. and i have no idea how old you are bu from your voice.. hmm.. 30++? doesnt matter.. nothing got to do with singing...

cheers!
