SOS forumites!!

my pickups screwed up, when i toggle to the top and mid selection there's no sound but when i switch to the bottom one it was normal. oh man its definitely not my cable's problem HELP can anyone diagnose the problem?

i'm using an LTD EC50 btw THANKS ALL!

i aint sure if the 3 knobs are vol/vol/tone or vol/tone/tone but if its the former then make sure ur vol knobs are all put to 10(full). if it is and there is still no sound or its the latter, then bring it down to a guitar tech and have him/her solve the problem for u. or better still bring it down to the shop u bought it from and have the person fix it :)

Hi, I ever had a similar experience. In fact I had on 3 occasions when the pup went silent.

The first time, it was the 5-way that was faulty. Just change the 5-switch or if you are adventurous, try to ply it open and make sure all the contacts are good.

The second time, it was the wiring problem. It was my very first time changing pup on guitar. I thought I did a very neat job but after close to a year, it just went silent abruptly, and upon investigation, I realised the problem lies with poor soldering. So just rewire it and it should be fine again.

On the third time, it was the pup prob. Somehow, I realised that there was a drastic reduction in output on one of the pup. The drop was so drastic that the sound was bearly audible even when my 30W amp is close to max volume. Upon investigation, I realise that the live and ground wire of the pup were not in contact, meaning that the winding was faulty. Hard luck, I could not do anything about faulty pup so just buy another and change the pup.

Hope that helps.

Hendrix used wah and fuzz pedal i think. It will be more convenient and useful to get an overdrive pedal though. Im quite a budget and bang for buck person, i thought the Biyang and Danelectro pedals are quite good , you will still get some spare change !

PS: Probably should get OD/distortion pedal then a delay/reverb.

LOL AT THIS POST! NOT RELATED

I have the same problem for my guitar and most likely its the switch.Pickups dont really bust up so easily unless you really electrocute your guitar. So get the pickup selector checked out.

Ok, thanks for the tip, bro! Appreciate it!

Hmmm, the last time this happened to my Strat copy, I opened it up and noticed the contacts came loose at certain points (can't remember where, it's been 5 or 6 years). If you've got a soldering iron, and daring enough, try it. Good learning experience.
