pickups dilemma

i'm about to buy a used ibanez rg with the following specs:

neck-thru maple neck
mahogany body "wings" w/maple cap
edge-pro trem
dimarzio paf pro (neck)/fred (bridge, original owner replaced the stock paf pro)

i'm sure that i want to replace the dimarzio fred in the bridge with another pickup, and i've narrowed it down to these few choices:

1) dimarzio paf pro (the original stock bridge pickup, nice balanced tone)
2) seymour duncan jb (higher output, more aggressive, "sharper" tone)

i'm afraid that if i simply put the jb in, it might turn out too trebly, without enough lower-mid "weight" in terms of tone.

if i put a paf pro in, i intend to use it with a mxr 10 band equaliser, which can also boost the output level. can a paf pro (nice balanced cleans) in combination with the eq/boost pedal give me a duncan jb type of output level/tone? if so, then going for the paf pro with eq pedal will give me more tonal options, but if it's impossible, then i'll have to get the jb instead.

thanks in advance for your kind advice. hope you guys can comment on both the suitability of the jb and the potential of using the paf pro+eq setup.

You should try the guitar first before you explore other pup choices.

Every guitar is different.

At least when you have the guitar and you dislike the sound of hte Fred, you can say why and point out which areas you want improvement in.

Makes recommending much easier.
