hi i've googled this subject and the results were not sufficient.
i play the rythem guitar in my band...
apparently, we need a keyboardist and at the same time, we want to stay
in the same five and not recruit anymore members...
and the vacalist does not want to pick up any keyboard skills...
so now, i have to step in and learn the keyboard...
i have no knowledge on keyboards...

how do you suggest i could start...
i'm already 15, is it too late???

Right now I'm trying to learn the keys too! Also a guitarist. And you're never too old to pick up an instrument! (I'm older than you, by the way)

I think it's best to get lessons, or at least guidance from a keyboard player. (Although I'm trying to give self-learning a shot first)

how do you self learn?
do you buy books? any websites that can teach...

but for now cannot get a tutor ah... no cash,i sacrifice my savings which was ment for a squire strat to pay o'level fees

Hey man , I started playing piano at the age of 15 (coming 16).

Conventional wisdom says that the earlier you pick up piano/keyboard the better but I don't believe in that , in fact I hope to smash that belief one day. 8)

I think you can start by self learning and when you become more familarise with the what's what in keyboarding then perhaps I suggest you go for formal lessons. I know its going to take a toll on your finance but if you can pull out $250+ for your O level fees then that should not be a problem for music lessons. :)

I`ve played guitar for almost 10 years n picked up keyboards since 2005..isnt tat hard actually..just taught myself how to play keyboard chords n a simple blues scale in the key of C..this book I have is by Scott Houston..his methods really work..: )

i put out 370 from savings and now i'm left with 200plus .
wonder if that can get me a cheap keyboard. after that its all self learning i guess.

There are those who started at 7 but still suck. Then there are those who started much later and can put many of us to shame so it doesn't matter.

i have a slightly different problem.i know how to read notes and play a bit. nothing fancy, but can conjure up some basics.

my problem is i have no idea what the hell are stuff like sound modules, samplers, etc. i absolutely do not know how to use them, incorporate them into my music, or even what they do/look like. sometimes, when i see bands with keyboardist performing live, and i see them fiddling with small keyboard like gadgets, and i wonder what are those and what do they add to the music? are they pre-programmed/recorded and then just played when necessary? etc, etc, etc.

any idea how i can find out more and use them make my music better??? feel really lost in this area :? :? :? :?

yeah, i tried to, but have a difficult time following the discussions coz i have no fundamental knowledge on such stuff. Thus i was wondering if there are websites that summarizes/collates such info. Those that i google tend to give me info on how to play, rather than "technical" info.
