ok guys. i really need to get pick ups to replace my upcoming s470 pickups. frigging INF pickups suck to the core. so yea. any recommadations?

S470 pick up config is HSH

and i like to play metal. but i wish my pickups could have the tone whenever i play as i have boss gt 10 and my MT 2 to boost the metal sounds

and i would like 1 super crisp clean sounding pickup. perhaps replace the bridge pickup?

budget arund 200. and yes i'm going for second hand. cant afford. paying for RG350 tremolo set + s470 and the new x1 phone my sony ericsson. so super pok now =d

thanks all!

1 super crisp clean sounding pickup

Used Dimarzio Evolution Bridge and Air Norton Neck.
Get the MT-2 modded , and u cant really expect the best from both parties (clean and distortion).

the INF pickups don't suck if you have a good amp to supplement your tone. they are the more decent models compared to the ones equipped in the GIO Ibanez.

hmm my amp is a marshall G15RCO.

anyway. hmm MT2 modded? any guide for me to do? cause i know wiring those all and i am able to do it d-i-y as long i have a guide to follow.

all after all i want to find a new pick up for it. ain't gonna keep those infs.

Pickups

Seymour duncan Invader but their kinda heavy
or the sh-6 duncan distortion good for drop tunning i guess i can recommand those :D

i do not wish to insult your arsenal but this seems to be the chief cause of repulsive tones supposedly attributable to your 'bad INF' pickups.

the prudent move here is to replace your amp rather than your pickups. deserving amps do wonders to manifest good tones even with some of the most budget-stricken guitars one owns. whatever replacement pickups you have in your Ibanez will make no marked difference if you still plug into that amp... 8-)

subversion is spot on. as long as you have a good amp (i usually attribute good to tube, but there are definitely good solid states out there), even the cheapo "crappy" squier pickups can sound great. after all, the amp is like 80% of your tone. changing your pickups to the most boutique, high end ones are gonna produce similarly bad tones if you don't get a decent amp.

hmm i'll consider getting both. hows that? =p hmm then any good amps to kick ass? gosh more money fly away. ok so budget on amp. 300 - 400 enough to get a decent home amp that won't make my neighbours kick my ass in the middle of the night?
(best is cheaper ! =D i'm really tight on budget) and i'm looking for second hands on whatever u guys reccomand

and oh i made a big mistake. its a marshall GR15CD oops. -_-

and oh. other than my marshall i do plug into my comp and use ableton live 7.03. i have EMU sound card in my comp

ok.after really an intense poundering session. i come to a conclusion. yes my amp may suck. but the only purpose i use it is for practice. cause during gigs or band performance. i'll be with the high ends of amps that i can plug my guitar to.

But in my opinions of the Inf pick ups. compare them to anything else. do they actually sound metallish at all? and is the single coil the clean pickup on the S470?(due to reading online reviews of the INF pickups plus kinda trying them out at my friends house to get a feel of the S470.)
i do have an EMG jackson at home and they do sound really metallish. but i heard they are active pickups. and i cant afford to mod my S470 to fit a battery slot into it for now.

if they don't then i really have to change them to something else and thats why i open this thread all. Sorry if i wasted / offended / did anything bad to u guys. but i'm kinda newb in guitar techs. =S

I've had an Ibanez Saber. Changed like 12 or so pups on it... most of the time, just for fun and experimentation.

1 super crisp clean sounding pickup for the bridge on the saber is a Dimarzio Breed Neck.

Yes, a neck model put into the bridge position.

Its like a PAF Pro with a lot of clarity, bite and a booming low end.

By the way, there's nothing wrong with swapping the pups. Really. Most of us here have done it to death before and at the end of the day, some of us find certain practices that make more sense, or work better.
Get an amp first? Sure, why not? Get new pickups? Sure, why not? Change the whole guitar? Sure, why not?

But at the end of the day, what counts is - are you making music? Are you pleased with the result?

Look, you've been doing your research - stick around a little longer. Hold off the buying first. Read up more. I see EMGs mentioned - read up on what's good and what's bad. Have you heard the INF pickups in action? There are some clips on youtube. You're on a tight budget - could you just make do with the Saber alone until you have saved up enough or know enough to make a good decision? Maybe all it needs is a good setup. You can google it, setting up pickup height - makes a huge difference in the tone.

hmm well said. well. yea. i'll have to look around. if i can get them all at a go. it will be great. yea i tried before INF pickups with stock action and stock pickup height. maybe i'll search them up on youtube and see how well they can perform. thanks for helping guys
