have any of you guys noticed how john mayer plucks his strings lightly or even strokes his strings with his index finger then continues picking? does anyone know where/how he temporarily stashes his pick?

cool i tried it. gotta get used to it tho not fluent as of yet. thanks! btw have you heard of the technique called 'raking'. i cant seem to get it right... any help? haha thanks!

raking is like doing a sweep while muting the strings.


so lets say u wanna rake a minor arpeggio, u just gotta palm mute the strings and then sweep pink the arpeggio.

this technique is usually used only for electric guitars...coz u cant hear much if u rake on a classical/acoustic
