Hi, i just joined the forums and i'm thinking of getting a distortion pedal but don't know which to get. i want to get sounds ranging from all time low to avenged sevenfold/bfmv/etcetc. i'm currently using a epiphone les paul special II and a roland micro cube. thanks

You should consider getting two cheaper distortions or one overdrive and one distortion. Any combination of Boss DS-1, OD, Metal Zone, Pro Co Rat, various MXR distortions, or even Danelectro Cool Cat or Fab series pedals. Just pick up second hand on the classifieds, easily $100 or less, and sell if it doesn't work for you. That way you can get the range of sounds from rock to hardcore to metal without spending $300 for something that might not achieve the sound you want based on your guitar and amp. Just my 2 cents.

Dude, selling my modded MT-2 at $130. The mod was made by a good friend from Sound Alchemy. It kills off most of the fizzy sound, but you can still switch back to it when you feel like making some metalcore sounding tones. The mod helps to shape the sound into something thicker. PM me if you want more details. =)

maybe you should try Radial product. Try radial hot british, you can get wide range of sound. Another choice is Sansamp GT2, its also have a very wide range sound with 3 amp simulations (fender clean, marshall, and mesa/boogie)..

I'd go with carboxymoron's suggestion, but if for various reasons you'd prefer to own just 1 pedal, i don't think you can go too wrong with the Wampler Plextortion. You might consider the Vox Satchurator too, but at higher gain settings it tends to sound a little thin, at least to me.

ah well so many suggestions. thanks all. i'll probably compile them and go try them at guitar shops after my common tests.....

Trying too many without buying is pretty rude, IMHO. The shopkeepers have to make a living. Anyway, if you don't bring your guitar and amp down to try, no point. You might as well be watching demo videos on the tube.
Anyway, when you're getting your PRS SE Singlecut, contact me... I wanna buy that Epi LP Special II, if you ever think of selling it.

haha alright it'll be quite quite some time before i get 900 bucks for my PRS. but the LP specialII is a pretty good guitar for the price which i got it. pretty awesome practise/beginners guitar

Lol its Swee Lee's standard practice.........they ALWAYS have a 20% discount.........after jacking the price up. I have seen cases where people were quoted the list price though. They had to ask before discount was given.

oic.. psps im a newbie to the such stuff. pardon my incompetence in such knowledge. so is it recommended to get pedals from them or go over to shops like davis and such?
