Hi Again,

which pedal is good for punk rock and metal?
ive heard the Barber Dirty bomb pedal it it really sounds good.
but for the metal part, im not really sure. do people usally have 2 distortion pedal? or just one on their pedalboards?

btw, im using a line 6 15 watt amp, i know its kind of no good. but will it sound nice if i use a distortion pedal with it? cuz its distortion isnt really that nice sounding.

if im getting 2 i'll be getting the Barber Dirty bomb , And Boss Metal zone.

What do you mean by "stock distortion"?

A suggestion: Google "distortion pedal" and "uber metal" on the search function and you will see numerous threads addressing your query.

Stock distortion : i mean the distortion which comes out from the line 6 Spider III Series, the built in distortion. like for example the metal channel, i dont really dig the distortion for it.

They could easily come up with a pedal version of the spider onboard drives but there's a reason why Line 6 has 3 Tonecore dirt/distortion units available: Uber Metal, Dr Distorto and Crunchtone. Each one caters to different type of drives for different needs. I should know; I own all three.

Uber Metal is good if you are looking for something that is NOT your typical metal crunch. If you're a fan of Rammstein you will love this. What I find interesting about this pedal is that it has an inherent phasing sound to it. Gives a unique added texture, which makes this a love or hate affair for the metal drive inclined amongst us.

City Music, being the official distributor of Line 6 products would give you a chance to test drive this pedal on a Spider amp, so in your case there is absolutely no excuse not to try before purchase.

Hmm if you mean you dont want your distortion to sound likes it covered by a blanket like your amp's original distortion. It would't really sound much better even with a good pedal. If you have a sucky amp , no matter what pedal you use it still sounds weak. But if thats not what you meant by stock distortion. You can try out Tech21 Sansamp GT2 you can set it from british classic rock to american metallica metal. Of course they will never sound exactly same as the boutique amp but definately enough gain for you to enter sandman.

I use the seventheaven , works for everything but try the crunchbox haha , not a bad pedal . Remember to stack it with a booster or a sustainer . It just makes the pedal sound so much better .

TS, do you like the cleans on your amp? If you do, then just focus on the drive pedal. The onboard drive of a Line 6 Spider is not the best, and there are definitely better amps out there if there is a chance to purchase one. But that doesn't mean that the amp is far from decent for home practice for now.

Tech 21 Sansamp is an amp modelling pedal so it works best on an amp that has little coloration in its voicing.
