Pedals that complement single coil tones

Hey guys

I'm looking for an OD pedal that works well with Strats to bring out its bell tones, and if possible can also switch settings to be aggressive sounding.

Any recommendations? Thanks!

You can try the catalinbread dirty little secret. It goes well from nice clean tones(rock mode) to crunch(rawk mode) tones. You can always hit it with boosters/ODs to get more aggressive tones. It's hard to achieve good clean tones and super aggressive tones in one pedal(unless it's a multi fx) as this may result in a big compromise in dynamics.

*Shameless* I'm selling one!

But actually I have to agree, it does exactly what edgie mentions. It reacts very well to guitar volume and dynamics and stacks very well with other pedals (have stacked it away with more than 10 pedals and haven't had a bad stack yet). Good stuff.

i always go back to my Tubescreamers when in need of a drive unit that would very much retain the single coil snap... 8-)

Fwah triple TS. DLS looks promising but well my wallet says no. :/ I've read that the GT-OD can't do much more than add some SRVish chunk to a Strat. Can anyone confirm or deny that? Cos the GT-OD is a pedal I've been eyeing for the longest time. Budget too.

I've had the gt-od, it's a one-trick pony. If I were you and you don't need a drive pedal badly, i would save up for pedals on the 200+ range as it's more economical that way in the long run. It's either that or the danelectro transparent overdrive. haha.

But seriously, better save up than resort to having drive pedals with only one good setting then having the need to upgrade later.

Actually I'm gonna get the T OD today haha. Was thinking to wait for v2 but changed my mind when I heard it would be a totally different circuit.

any OD unit in general, provides a mild push. if you wish for more, you'd do well to get a unit with a boost function on board, examples being:

I posted something like this before. By Belcat. Blues Drive. Only $60 at Guitar Connection. If you want more kick, just throw a TS9 into it...

The TS9 to me warms up the single coil tones a bit too much when on its own. It's fantastic as a boost pedal, especially when at cranked volumes. But at low volumes, it's not as useful as I'd like.

Check out the Belcat.
