Pedalcase/Board Input

Hey guys, i'm thinking of starting to make pedal flight/hardcases. (pedal boards)
I would like to know the things about your pedal case that

bother you most,
wished it didn't have/isn't,
wished it had,
things that you like about it.

Basically, anything about your pedalcase

Well, weight, durability and portability.

Most pedal cases are too small for more than 10 pedals; it'd be nice to have a wide enough pedal.

Also would be the velcro/carpeting. I would love to have a board that doesn't have the carpeting rip when i remove my toys...

i really like the look n idea of the misse pedalboards...

but if they had the sponge like pedaltrain's hardcase to hold the pedals in place it'll be almost perfect for me haha...

carpet type velcro,those that stick really well and don wear out so fast
light weight enclosure for the pedalboard
inclined so that easier to reach the pedals on the back row..
maybe can create a space to put the powersupply underneath the pedalboard like the pedaltrain
option to choose whether with wheels or not..preferbably bigger and better quality than those they do for misse
retractable handle
sponge to secure the pedals better
available in diff colours..

i just want a pedaltrain like the one i have, but with wheels and less heavy. and i want it to come in RED.

Well. Custom sizes. Light with a good hard or soft case.

if its a board with a case, then have handles on the frame.

if not, just make sure theres a detachable lid.

OH YES! and please please have some comfort grips on the handles. I get blisters when i carry my board.

Thanks guys. Very good ideas suggested.
About the lightness issue, do bear in mind that it also ideally double's up as a flightcase.
So in terms of weight there has to be a little compromise i'm thinking..but thanks guys, keep them coming!

haha, actually i dont really mind the weight, cause even a light weighted pedalboard with like 10pedals is killer already.. so as long as the wheels are good, i dont mind..
btw another suggestion, how about custom designs for out names on the pedalboard.. so that if people try to steal, then see our big ass names on the pedalboard casing then give up already..
oh ya, those dark read carpets for pedalboard look dam nice, i have one for my pedalboard, kinda looks like those hitman weapon cases..

If it doubles up as a flight cas,e then the weight is acceptable. Next issue is price!

The Pedaltrain concept seems like a good idea, but i find the frame has too wide spacing (i have yet to see one in person though)...the spaces makes it convenient for wiring, so maybe that might be something to include in the design!

Definitely a retractable handle like a trolley and wheels.

The pedaltrain design is so simple, but damn it's good.

If it had the above two features I'd buy one immediately

I use a hardcase for my guitar!
So most pedal bags, let alone them trolleys (which is cool) could be used for me..
The Westfield is nice, but kills my shoulder man.. Too heavy..
If only they have pedalbag bag packs!

Most of the pedalcases out there are just plain stupid in designed.
forgive me to say that.

it's look cool with sliverish edges or shoulder sling. but long can you carry that thing on board a MRT and bus? hitting on the edge, disrupting the commuter. those are absolutely not commuter fridendly for most of us who opt fo public transport.

it's look cool with sliverish edges or shoulder sling. but long can you carry that thing on board a MRT and bus? hitting on the edge, disrupting the commuter. those are absolutely not commuter fridendly for most of us who opt fo public transport.

i think if you are carrying a flight-case specced pedalboard, you shouldn't be taking the train, that's stupid.

flight cases need to be road-worthy, not MRT-worthy. they are built to take maximum abuse, bumps, getting thrown around. this is why they're big, heavy, and durable. don't expect them to be commuter friendly.

if you take public transport and want something commuter friendly, don't get a pedalboard, just bring lots of patch cables, toss the whole setup in your backpack and hop on the train, that way you don't need to worry about the edge of your pedalboard jabbing anyone in the ribs.

i think the dream is like a massive hard case that puts your guitar in one compartment and then a 1.2 metre wide pedalboard that stacks on it. Granted it'll probable be more than 40 cm thick but well like you guys said its supp to be road ready.

Seriously, thanks guys.
The plan is to perhaps create two kinds.
One to be a flightcase that would be pretty un-carry-with-your-hand-for-a-thousand-miles friendly.
The other to the the opposite, the gigging kind.

And maybe, just maybe, a combination of both. (Would require some ingenious ideas that's not impossible to get)

i second this. in fact , if you're going to travel around in the train (presumably to jam), i think a multi effect pedal like the Pocket Pod (or xt etc) would be a better choice. if its a gig, i think one would have made special arrangements (hitch a ride, grab a cab etc) to transport equipment
