Pedal 9v/12v problem!

Hey guys I got an issue here.

Currently on my pedalboard I have 3 9V pedals and 2 12V pedals.

If I put just a 9v power adaptor+ daisy chain, it won't run. If i put a 12V power adaptor + daisy chain, everything runs well, except that there is a high-pitched hum going on in there. I have tried the individual pedals and it only seems to happen when all 5 pedals are there. As long as there are two 12V pedals, the hum occurs. Have tried with other 12 power adaptors.

How can I get rid of this, without getting a power supply? ( pedal power, etc ) I'm thinking of swapping out one of the 12v pedals, but I wanna know if there's any solutions to this before I do that.

Thanks!

the 12v pedals probably needs a 12v adapter (i assume they are tube-based pedals) so running them on 9v will not work. your 9v pedals probably can take the 12v input thats why your rig works with the 12v adapter. Perhaps you can give more details on what kind of power adapter you are using and the pedals you are trying to run?

Hey there!

Am using a TC Helicon 12V adaptor, running a Nova Drive and Nova Delay, both 12V, and tuner, boost, and reverb at 9V. The nova pedals are the ones causing the problem. The pedals do work, just that there's a hum I'm trying to get rid of.

I wouldn't recommend running the 9v pedals at 12v.
But the 12v pedals can sometimes run on 9v.

The hum might be related to the power supply.
High pitched sounds like grounding issue with amp to me though.

But it could also be pickups, high gain drive pedals too.

@Dscythe didn't wanna have extra things to bring along. But oh wells switched out the nova drive for another 9v distortion. solved the issue.

@zesn happened with a few amps! think it's probably the sound of 3 9v pedals being fried on 12v :p

Thanks for the inputs anyway, guys! :)
