Pearl Target VS Tama Stagestar

hi, new to the forums, hoping for guidance from all. I went down to sweelee today to look for stagestar. in the end the guy there intro to me a pearl target, it seems more value for money to get a set with 20'bass as compared to a stagestar's 18'. diff in the 2 sets only $2.

pearl target was quoted $800 and stagestar is $798.

some reviews i had from forumers elsewhere seems negative on the pearl target. seems they cant get a good sound. shouldn that be a problem with tuning the drumskins. also, is there a problem with replacing tom brackets, and as well as other parts for pearl brands? (other thread states must order from u.s , etc)

what would u guys reccomend about this issue and why?

please and thanks =D

i actually like the stagestar better cos the tom arm doesnt pierce thru the shell.

but i also like the 20" bass drum. more oomph from 18".

i have a stagestar...the bass drum is not as bad as it looks.quite strong. of course it cant compare against 22".

:D

erm. in my opinion

actually i feel otherwise. i like the forum better.. if you can get the standard kit.. th 22" . i heard that this shipment of tama are not tt good. not sure if affect the stagestar but i noe tt the swing star is not very good. are you the price of the forum is so low. the last time i checked the price was like 1k. the forum should be of a better quality. and for sure the stick cymbals of the forum are much better. tama stock are pure crap.. unless you like weird sounds. ya.

ehh.. woops

woops saw wrongly stagestar and target.. sorry.. the stage star is better played it before like the stagestar better... better tone..but still its personall preference. and ya take into consideration the cymbals ya.. remember tama stock cymbals are crap

dont get either, save up for better stuff, like PDP cost like 1k+ with much better quality... targets are bad... and i heard bad things bout stagestar too

i initially only aimed to get a 2nd hand entry level set with a budget ard $400+ recently thought about it decided to get a new set.

jus want to get answers to the issues regarding my doubts.

thanks all for replies

man.. i still dun have answers... sigh

i really need to know bout those stock cymbals and the tom arms...
i myself own a set of stagestars and bought them for $600+ 2 years back. for what i know, i dented the entire stock hi-hats and crash within a month. dunno what kinda shit it's used to make. but for the tom arms, it's not bad.

basically, it's a swingstar with smaller drums and crappier cymbals and stands.

i guess thats very true then, i heard to stock cyms are not that good.

have tried it myself at a frens place, his swingstar of course, i didnt like the sound, but didnt expect it to dent soe asily though.

thanks for feedback

Normally, entry level kits will always come with stock cymbals, to make it attractive and readily for the young drummer to start playing/practicing. These stock cymbals will never be of good quality regardless of which brand it is from.

so does that mean if i intend to change to cymbals, getting a stagestar would be of better choice?

dun kinda like the dig in tom arms on the pearl target.

besides, if it were u guys, which entry lvl set would u pick?

I really think that for an entry kit, you should buy a second hand one. much cheaper, and futhermore you can get a better kit with that x amount of price. :) as you get better in drums, you will definately upgrade your equipment later on...so why not buy a second hand entry kit first? check out luthermusic

agreed. but i would like a brand new set first ah... i dunno bout pearl forums.. but the one used by my teacher at music clef sounds better than a stage custom.

now i wonder why the ppl in luthermusic desperate to sell their forums and at a crazy $400 only.

bran new one i think its ard 1.2k.

haha, tuning i nt sure who does it.. but many of em share the same set ah..

btw few of the teachers there look ver young, probably only 19 or 20?

i think i'll get the pearl target for the 20'bass . other than that the stock cyms are going off first.

new drumset new drumset ooMpH!
