Pearl Rhythm Traveller or Tama Stagestar ?

I am no drummer but then while helping friend source for drum kit... I saw the pearl travel kit... it is quite compact in size and sounds quite ok to my ears...

whereas for the other it is a big bigger...

I still think pearl is better choice... it cost about 500 bucks... try swee lee

Rhythm traveller if you want the size and compactness of it. But the Stagestar is small (18" bass drum 8) ) with deeper toms, which to me would be a better choice. The shallow toms on the rhythm traveller is unbearable.

If U want to have peace and stability in ur home.. Then Rythm Traveller is a good choice. Alternatively, U could get a Tama Stagestar and fork out extra cash for Muting Pads available at Swee Lee or Yamaha which cost quite a bit ex.. Its up to U.

soundwise, tama stagestar.

budget wise, rhythm traveller.

I agree.

And I don't think there's a point on using the mesh heads or other muting device since you can't hear the sounds (buying a musical instrument you hit on but doesn't make any sound is quite pointless).

If you have enough money, go for the tama stagestar.

Having worked in a music store and selling both of these kits I can say with some experience that both drumsets have very different designs and purposes.
If you want a kit to practice at home without bothering anyone go for the pearl.
But if you want a kit to play that is compact and sounds good with its Phillipine Mahogany shells go for the Tama.
As for quality and finish, the Tama wins hands down, better hardware!!!

Which one is better ? Can any experts pls give me some useful comments ?

The answers are layed right before ur eyes.. Its ur choice as Boogieman has put it.. Which is ur preferences? Its ur pick..

i've played both kits before. i find that the pearl loses hands down to tama. unless you're using the pearl kit with muffle heads, then it's ok. it's compact that is.

but i still recommend stagestar. great kit.

Nope.. Muffleheads or I would say Muting Pads can be purchased separately at Yamaha Music Plaza or Swee Lee..

So how much floor area does the Tama set cover? (stardard 5 piece+ride, crash and hihat)

HI, i bought a TAMA stagestar 4 months ago. At first i was really struggling which one to get .. Pearl Rhythm Traveller or TAMA Stagestar? . 1 thing which i like about Pearl Rhythm is the compact, slim and nice, somemore it comes with muffler heads, the cymbal and high hats looks much tougher than the TAMA stagestar.. haha.. the TAMA stagestar cymbals and hat really looks like a strap metal to me.. But when it comes to sound....... TAMA stagestar is a lot better than Pearl Rhythm traveller. Depends on you guy.. You prefer looks than quality or vice versa? I bought TAMA stagestar so u know my choice lah? haha  , anyway, i bought the muting pads / muffler heads for 70 bucks at swee lee.... If you are staying in HDB, it is better to get the muffler heads.. my advise.. thanks for reading.
