Yup, i was told it has exclusive rights. The RT set is $650 before discount i think...

On display are RT and Forum due to limited space. Have to ask if they have other series. By the way, Ranking has expanded to another unit along the passage way. It has a drum section now.

Cool! How much are they selling the Pearl Forum for? Is it cheaper than sweelee? =D

I just made some calls and Ranking is not commissioned by Pearl Drums as official dealer or distributor leh....It's pretty much like Fender, parallel imported most likely from other distributors within the neighboring region who either has a huge inventory and can afford to sell to Ranking cheap or, the scarier thing could be product copies from unknown factories. But like all things, if they sound equally good then I suppose the buy should be worth it.

I went down to Ranking to have a look today. In terms of Pearl spare parts, snares and the range of drums, Swee Lee still has much more.
Perhaps might see a change in the next few months.
Either way good news for us definitely! Somewhere else to look other than having to rely on Swee Lee all the time now.

The person who bought the Pearl Forum told me it was less than 1K.

IC..I was surprised initially (thinking that Ranking got the Exclusive Distributorship here for Pearl Drums)….because Exclusive Distributorship means…Only 1 Authorised Distributor in a Country.
So it means – Swee Lee is still maintaining the Exclusive Distributorship for Pearl Drums here in Singapore …and Ranking is “Parallel-Importing” Pearl Drum Kit (nothing wrong here too) - - but with all these – Competition….WE…the Consumer will Benefit at end of day … that’s good…Provided they do Compete..
I mean come to think about it - - When Swee Lee comes up with a Less 50% Year End Sales…this kind of Pricing – is really tough – To Beat.
On a secondary thought (If Swee Lee has Dealers selling their Pearl Drums in Singapore) -- - Then …. This is an opportunity for Dealers to (Get Better Pricing from Swee Lee for Pearl Products) in order to be able to sell them competitively…or else dealer would not wanna stock and distribute Pearl as they cant compete (I mean just generally – cause we wont know as yet – how competitive is Ranking here or if they will wanna compete).
But if I were Swee Lee (and this is Happening) – I will support the Dealers and lower Product Pricing on Pearl (for these selected items) - - or else -- - What happens next is….

I think very unlikely. Once Swee Lee is forced to lower the prices to meet what Ranking is selling, there will be no way other dealers can stock the drums at yet another lower "dealer" price. So in other words, the other dealers here in Singapore will not be able to sell Pearl products anymore in the near future.
So like Eric said....if situation worsens by parallel imports and price-undercutting...everyone may end up parallel importing themselves and both Swee Lee and Ranking themselves will end up having even more competitors. Hope that doesn't happen though...cos our local market will be in a huge mess man....warranty support will be the first to go down the drain...
