Paintwork damage

Hi there,

I've seen some second hand guitars in SG recently that seem to have paintwork coming away from the guitar around the bridge and/or neck.

Is this a problem with humidity in SG? It seems like there must have been a fault with the original paint.

Has anyone seen the same? Any thoughts on what causes it and what effect is has on value?
