but i've gotta be honest, i'd rather choose tone over looks, though i would prefer to have both.

i still stand my ground by saying that they are knock-offs. why? because the design and physical appearance were still derived from the 2 fender basses. are they better than fenders? of course (but oso subjective). but would they have come up with the same design if they had never seen a j or p bass before?

shinobi bro, i sort of get what you mean, but it's the choice of words. Knock off suggests a cheaper (and hence lousier) copy of another product, i.e. sadowskies, which is really not arguable in this case (have you seen the price tags on those things??)

I would just say they're modelled after fender, that's all.
