Overpricing

Good observation and i agree But if buying a 2nd hand item, and being told by the shop thats its brand new is simply dishonest. Period.

Yup. I think the deal with GC is that we've just had way way way too many experiences with them being dishonest. I've seen their tag-team-lower-the-price game happen in front of my eyes and the poor guy got suckered into selling his guitar for waaaaay under market value.

Personally, I brought a set of brand new pickups and a pickguard in to get swapped into my Strat. I took it home, and realised that firstly, the pickguard wasn't the brand new one I gave them. It was just similar. Secondly, the pickups in my guitar were the same model as what I gave them, but definitely not the brand new ones I gave them. They were used, rusted, and had shorter/sticky wires. That's practically criminal. They'll never see another cent of my money, and that's what I'll tell everyone I know.

I might be the lucky one. I got a good deal from GC.

It was a Edwards Les Paul. It sounded great, pickups had the Duncan stickers and it was actually below some of the asking prices here on SOFT.

Its been 6 years. I still play it.

I have however shopped for guitars for a friend over there. We passed on a $700 1985 Squier. Found a 1986 model in G77 for less $$. It was a good day. My friend's guitar teacher subsequently offered to buy that guitar off him.
