Overdrive Pedals

The Tri AC is more vintage voiced... and has less gain. More stage friendly due to 3 footswitches. Better Amp Sim to my ears.

The GT2 is more modern sounding and has loads of gain. Extremely tweakable although the lack of a mid control might be misleading.

And yes, you can do ANY genre with either one of those pedals, except the GT2 can't sound THAT vintage or warm, and the Tri AC can't sound that heavy.

GT2 is good if you want the chugga chugga type of palm muting, plenty of gain in the pedal.
Does the Boss OD-3 have as much gain as the GT2? Anyone knows?

Pier.

yeap... but man, rem, you can do pinch harmonics on a clean channel already... so you really just need little OD to make the harmonics louder.

I use the OD-3 as a booster for my overdriven amp and I love it for that.
Set drive to 0 or 1, level 6/7 and tone 9 to boost the overdriven amp. Love its picking dynamics, warmth and sustain.

Hmm... I seem to be only able to get a hearable sound with higher gain/ovedriven. Clean like very soft..? Is it my technique wrong?

hmm, well, i have a question...

is the tri a.c. just like a digital modeller of a couple (well. three.) amps? or is it... ehrm... analog? i think....

the tri ac is supposed to be the gt-2, but having ability to have 3 different settings.....

Sorry man. Its not. Its a totally different animal tone-wise. And it doesn't have the gain of the GT2.

Its totally analog except for the digital portion used to store your 3 settings to the 3 footswitches. It sounds much more real and warm than a digital thing like say a POD.

And it basically emulates 3 amps... but you can store them in any combination with the 3 footswitches. I got clean (tweed), crunch (british) and heavy gain (british) on mine.

oh ok, thanks for that information, shredcow.... you've been a great help in this dilemma of mine... and all of you other posters too! thanks a lot!
