Hi, I'm getting some overdrive pedals soon, which one should I get?

My friend recommended me the barber direct drive pedal, has anyone tried it before. Here is how it looks like

Anyone tried it before? How is it like? I'm looking for a nice driven tone, with a good range. Like Jimi Hendrix and also do Slash from GNR. Which pedal do you recommend?

for Slash-type tones, it's about the Marshall talking, not pedals...

depends on the type of drive voicing/ intensity you wish to acquire, really. best to try them wit your guitar.

there are some overdrive pedals reviews over at the review database...

tbh you have to try some to see what you like.

im not sure if there are alot of overdrive pedals that can reach your slash type sound distortion range.

the best range and most tweakable OD for me would be the MI Audio BB deluxe.

But I recommend you try the Ibanez range of tubescreamers, the Boss
OD-3 and the modded BD-2. The danelectro black coffee

Or perhaps, a Mi audio Crunchbox for slightly heavier tones.

i saw your pedal at a USboutique guitar pedal discussion thread on rare and unique pedals haha.

I was oooooh its edder's pedal.

i still cant pronounce it .

!!!!!

both slash and jimi play with their marshall stacks close to maximum volume. and they use more than 1 100 watt stack. both dont use many pedals. so unless you get the marshall stacks, you're not getting close. you probably wont get both their sounds in one amp, jimi used a super lead and slash a JCM 800 2203/4 and silver jubilees. then the guitars. even the cables. jimi used the telephone style cable to lose some high end and brightness from his strat.

then theres the fingers issue...

dude theres no way an OVERDRIVE is gonna get u jimi man

as for slash, an miaudio classic distortion is doing fine for me
and i find an ocd can do izzy's rhythm work quite well jic u were lookin for GNR tones more than slash tones

one pedal wont replicate the tone of an artist like nickyseow says, but it can get you close :D
