Planning to get an Orange TH 30, but i was quoted rather exhorbitantly at Yamaha.. and I refused to believe the MIC TH 30 can cost that much as well..

Any other shops bring in Orange amps? Appreciate the help!

Curious, how much were you quoted bro?

I really don't think anyone else in Singapore brings in Orange amps. There were the occasional ones that I used to see at Blackwoods, but Blackwoods' ceased to exist lol and the "new" ebenex store looks way too tiny to store amps.

The Orange amps website only lists Yamaha as their official distributor http://www.orangeamps.com/dealers/?country=36&x=25&y=10

stuff at Yamaha were hardly cheap. look at the prices for their strings and you can roughly gauge how much they mark up for their stuff.

I was at Ebenex last week, there were two or three Orange products lying around... iirc a Tiny Terror and two speakers, one bass one guitar. I didn't take a good look. That's just what was out on display at least, not sure how much there'd be in stock or how big a range they'd have. If you ask David I'm sure he'll be glad to bring one in for you.

Buying from Yamaha pros vs cons: even with the student discount it still isn't cheap at all, but as an authorised distributor it means you'll probably get better post-sale support with any problems/repairs etc. (I still wouldn't buy from Yamaha but it might be important to some other buyers.)

Yamaha is selling the TH30 combo at $1299 after discount and places like ebenex actually orders from Yamaha for the stock. And MIC or not, one should always look for its quality over country-origin, its just like all your iPhone is actually assemble in China, does that make it inferior? and not forgetting you are paying a part for the ORANGE branding as well.

Hey? 1299 honestly doesnt sound ALL that bad for a TH30... lol feel free to educate me otherwise!

Firstly, i was quoted $3000 at yamaha. Secondly I don't recall mentioning that MIC is inferior. I infer that the purpose of Orange joining to pack to move production to the far east is to keep those with shallower pockets in mind, hence I expected a more affordable price tag. Just like how you wouldn't expect to shell out an R6 or R7 price for the current Epi LP Stds yeah?

pardon me if I have misunderstood your point, cos the way you phrase it could be a little misleading. I have to concur with you on the point shifting manufacturing into China should be to ease the pocket of consumers.
As for the $3000 price tag, I believe they might have quoted you the TH200 head's price instead. I suggest you double check with them the price again.

hmmm wow I didn't know it could be misleading! hahahha well pretty sure i was quoted 3000.. double checked, and assistant pointed the picture from their catalogue out to me. But thanks for all the replies! and bro dodgethis, i think the PGS ones are US made!

well, thats the problem with words on forum, there's no tone to it so a lot of time we misjudge it into something else, forgive me for that.

i guess they must have not quoted you the right price, I remember last seeing it at $1299 in thomson plaza for the TH30 combo.
