orange drop cap mode

I'm planning to get a drop cap mode for my Squier fat strat. I've heard that they make strats sound more "Fenderly" and are great for cleans and overdrives. Am I limiting the sounds that i can get out of my guitar if i get it modded?( I'm a blues/classic rock plus U2 radiohead experimentation kind of guy) Is it a worthwhile investment? Does any have any sound files on a orange drop cap modded guitar that i can listen to cos i can't seem to find any on the net. All advice will be appreciated. Thanks! :)

Do you know what kinda modification an orange drop mod is?

Its just a replacement of the tone capacitor in the guitar. That's all. It affects the roll off of your tone knob. With your tone knob at 10, an orange drop capacitor will have little or no effect compared to the stock ceramic capactitor.

Listen to the part where the tone knob is at 10. Do you hear a difference?

a capacitor is not a majik component. It is just a capacitor wired with the pot as a low pass filter configuration

sound clip is not needed coz it will be be hard for them, hehe to even capture the differences...

anyway, if the tone pot is at full usually, it prolly wont have much effect be it a oleng drop or any other fanciful capacitor.

There is no limiting of sound coz the capacitor role in a geetar is just a tiny one, among other thiings.

And theres prolly no investment factor in having a orange drop cap in a geetar, its just a capacitor. Either have it or not, theres really nothing too big a change its going to make.

I had an orange drop capacitor some years back in my CIJ Vintage Collection Series '57 Strat(with Fralin Vintage Hots). It does have an effect but mostly on the "feel". I didn't like it because as much as it makes the sound clearer, I lost the spongy feel of my vintage sound since it seems to make the bass tighter, if not hi-fi-sounding. I went back to the ceramic caps that initially came with the guitar and couldn't be happier. Maybe it's better for hard rock applications but for blues-rock, I just don't think so.

these tonal differences are only discernible upon close scrutiny, chances are, the common ear couldn't differetiate the non-orange caps from the orange ones. some of us are too accustomed to our current tone so upon switching cap brand, the difference would be marked.

i do have the Orange Drop cap in some of my guitars. i appreciate its wide sweep, from very wooly to very prickly...
orange 'mode'? i think you mean orange mod- short for modification

it would also mean individual preferences- some of us do not like what the orange does to our tone, regardless of the music genre...
