OpenStage@*scape
Date: Every 2nd Saturday of each month
Venue: *Scape ( http://www.scape.youth.sg/ )
Time: 4pm to 9pm

OpenStage@ *Scape is a successful partnership between Arts For Us All (AFUA) and Scape Programming Committee. Being a less intimidating platform for young musicians to hone their skills and interact with older professionals. Openstae@*Scape aims to mentor younger musicians through workshops, sharing sessions and performances.

On every 2nd Saturday of each month, commencing from April 2007 to June 2007, musicians can expect intriguing workshops conducted by Funkie Monkies that focuses on singing and song writing, Free of Charge.

Other than the educational workshop, performances by well-known performers such as Eric Ng, Ngak and two amateur bands will then take center stage to wow the audiences. Jack and Rai from popular local band E.I.C. will host and anchor the various performances and perform at the same time.

Stay back at the end of the performance, where the party begins with a possible Jam Session taking place after each event where budding musicians perform alongside more seasoned professionals.

OpenStage@ *Scape welcome musicians from all walks of life to perform. Just register at www.afua.org.sg/openstage/bandregistration/bandsignup.html and submit your demos online and mentors will then select two bands to perform at each event.

*if online form doesnt work, mailto: info@afua.org.sg

for those who are interested in music production and music business, do come down. the session is presented by Eric Ng (aka HYR) http://blog.fmmusic.com.sg/ , a very cool guy that knows alot about the music industry.

also, if you are a soloist or a band and want to get some 'foot in the door', here's where you can rub shoulder with HYR. he does make things happen.

or if you rather let your music do the talking, sign up for the performance slot. that might be your 'one hit wonder'!

yeah, signed up. but urmm the registration form got error la..POST error!

oh yar,if we have registered..how does the thing work? I read through some of the stuff..but there's nothing regarding when we will get a show. and how long a set must be.

kind of bummed out.

my band, Indus Gendi, was scheduled to play today at 7 but the event for some strange reason got cut very short (probably due to poor turn out).

I just hope they publicize the next show better to avoid disappointing bands (of course i'm not saying the bands shouldn't do their part, but in our case they only informed us we were playing on tuesday.)

On a brighter note, the 5 minutes of Fame segment bands were pretty happening. I particularly enjoyed Cardinal Avenue's set. very nice.

hey mockstarr,

this is john here from cardinal avenue.
i'm really glad you enjoyed our stuff but i'm even more thankful of you for sticking around for our set in the first place. we appreciate it.

your band was already freaking tight during soundcheck. do let me know when's ur next performance and i'd be glad to come down. =)
