Man were we All Shagged!!

Many Thanks to ALL who came down... Thanks to the bands who delivered an all-so awesome set, thanks to the photographers, especially to Perplexed, all of you made Stasis 10 look great online... and Damn Hell it was!

Here's one to SK and Peepshow, who did a great job in ensuring the sound sounded freakin' good for the whole set, even in the face of last-minute issues. What mattered lots was that the show was a success, and you guys made it right.

Thanks to the sponsors Newurbanmale.com, Epiphone guitars and of course, David and his people from Ebenex Music for supporting us. To WMUM, we thank you for the great support as well.

Real sad to organise the last of Stasis gigs, but hey, be sure to watch out for our other gigs! Our Original Society Blog is .... http://omslovesyou.blogspot.com/

Rock On!!

Much thanks to bro Perplexed bro for revving the crowd up on Saturday. Yes, it was a short set. But in some industries, they call it a cocktease.

The Banis will be performing the entire album plus a few surprises thrown in on the launch show on Saturday 2 February, 8pm. They are adding more musicians and performers into the line-up as we speak. It could be a 15-piece strong B-Quartet (Yup, When Mathematics Fail, indeed) for the launch. We are aiming for a spectacular show lah.

In other news, the boys will be up on HOME 98.7FM this Saturday. The show is broadcasted at 3pm if I'm not wrong. They will be previewing a few tracks off their album, doing a short acoustic and an interview as well. Tune in to catch them!

Aiyah it was coz their set was so darn good that's why i jumped the stage to do encore request.. I respect their decision not to though, it was professional to keep to the time allocated and made sure the gig didn't overshoot the time given.

On a separate note, here's some more photo goodness.. These shots were taken by Lavinia C:

Organisation Nightmare...

Haiz... Just recovered from Stasis 10, ears still ringing from all the rocking bands. I dunno about you guys but the sound was awesome. Heads up to the two soundmen from StageCrew Studios and Wake Me Up Music for giving the best show with what they had. Man, let me tell you guys about that day.

I was helping out with the sound equipment. SK from StageCrew Studios brought all the musical equipment - git amps, bass amp, monitors, drums, the works man - everything you saw on stage was from his studio. The problem was the organisers told us not to bring PA systems cos they said the place had their own. Turns out, Substation didn't allow us to patch our mics into their sound system. DIE lah! Can't mic up anything. NO vocals lah today. Champion.
Then the organisers brought down 100W passive speakers from NUS, without the amplifier. Everything had been set up except for the PA systems. Poor bands had to wait like 45 minutes before they returned with the power mixer. 100W speakers...? Haiyo, can't get the vocals out clearly. That's why everything didn't sound so good.
But you guys have to agree with me that the equipment was damn solid. Only thing that let the soundmen down was the PA systems. The organisers should have requested for the soundsystem from StageCrew Studios, then definitely the show will be damn power. I asked SK the other day, he told me his sound systems were like 1000W speakers each (subs and mains). WAH LAU. That's like 10 times the ones that were provided. I mean, all the bands put up a damn good show, only problem was the PA system provided from NUS. Even the monitors were louder than the two PA speakers... Haiz... I hope you all don't get the wrong idea, cos I think SK and that guy from Wake Me Up Music are pretty good soundmen, especially given such circumstances...
Oh well, even for a poorly run event, I enjoyed myself quite a bit. Aircon was spoilt though ;[

WHOOPS and other things..

Well.. honestly I felt that the lack of power from the sound equipment wasn't really bad that day coz the venue wasn't big. If we had held Stasis 10 at a larger place then maybe the sound equipment probs would have been more noticeable. The POWwerrr from the monitors saved the day eh? ;)

The problem was the organisers told us not to bring PA systems cos they said the place had their own. Turns out, Substation didn't allow us to patch our mics into their sound system. DIE lah!

I think mishaps and miscommunication like this happen all the time lah. Part and parcel of a live gig. As a learning point for future events, the event organisers & venue provider & equipment provider could communicate more with each other for things to run smoother.

And I have to say, kudos to SK from StageCrew Studios who managed the sound for most part of Stasis 10. (Jon Hemsley from WakeMeUpMusic helped out for some bands) After the equipment from the NUS-OMS side arrived and he fully absorbed the situation, SK stopped talking, got down to it and made things work. That's professionalism coming from the people who supplied the sound equipment for Rock For Wayne.

Aircon was spoilt though ;[

Aiya standard lar, Substation's aircon so old already. Besides, the best way to tell that a band is rocking out a Substation crowd is when it get so packed and rocking that the aircon system just gives up. :)

Bad aircon? Ahh... No wonder my sweat glands were rocking out too...

Never perspired so much playing in a gig before!

rEpLy to SeIzMiK (Peepshow)

Well considering the costs mounting, I wonder how much StageCrew Studios will charge for renting the 1000W PA system. What a way to advertise your studios sia... :P

That would mean less money for the bands, ain't it? We are a non-profit organisation and we hope we can channel a substantial amount of our proceeds into the bands.

I admit, the issue with Substation was a miscommunication. Apparently we were not informed when we booked the place. Real sorry about that.

But the show was smooth flowing, and everyone from the floor to the bands had fun, no cockups in between... How is this a poorly run event?

Well, if you have anymore enquiries or feedback, do forward to omslovesyou@gmail.com
Let's not turn this thread into a flame session lah... Mik? We welcome all feedback!

Aight, Rock on! :D

No worries, I'm not trying to shoot anyone down. I am just surprised to hear people that I know personally say that the sound system was not up to standard, not like our usual shows. I didn't say that people there didn't have fun, but when bands come up to me with a puzzled face about the systems being provided, I feel bad for them especially when I can't do anything to help them. I even wanted to go back and bring another PA system and toss it in, without being paid. Oh well. I'm just happy that people did enjoy themselves, and that we did our best to make the bands sound awesome.
