Obama's inauguration speech

I felt it was functional, direct, and well, sort of gave me some hope that he is a different league from Bush. What do you guys think?

Thankfully we're no longer in the era of the monkey.

new era of responsibility as he had said.

Obama , a very convincing, sincere individual who is good with his speeches.

Got to wait and see what he actually does after giving all the promises. hope its for the better!

p.s the part he gabra during the oath damn cute hahah

Glad you watched it. He is a real good and charismatic speaker.

Problem was... His speech wasn't direct. He gave us ideas but that was all. I know it was a short speech but since the speech was conceptual, it left me pondering. And the crowd was unusally subdued on such a day.

Obama publicly said that he would reverse Bush's policies, especially on science and technology issues, energy issues and foreign policies. I wonder how Bush felt when he heard that. :D

Obama also mentioned that the US government could only do much and the citizens have to push themselves to work things out. "The crisis we face might be new, the instruments we may need might be new, but values like honesty, courage-these are old."

I find Joseph Lowery's speech quite captivating too.

watched the speech live...

ha its quite short... and yes he addressed many issues. All the best to him to reshape America

I absolutely loved the speech. Really sleepy at the moment, but I'll talk about it when I get home.

Actually that's because that particular camera is miced up just to Obama's podium mic so you can't hear the crowd that loudly through that mic. It's louder when you see the crowd shots.

Oh well we all like to think of him as some kind of messiah, a superman kind of character who can and will be able to heal the US so the world will recover as well... And I think even he knows people expect this of him, so he's got the grounds to be rather vague about what he intends to do. As for his seriousness well we'll see in time to come, but his personnel choices so far leads me to think he's a more functional type of guy. I mean he is charismatic and all but his focus would be more on achieving them rather than all talk (i hope, sincerely.)

We just have to wait and see don't we? :)

All the best to Obama in reshaping and cleaning up after Bush. What a long 8 years (was it?), I can read the number of albums that are aimed towards the Capital G.

I still think his election victory speech was more touching though. This one is good too but towards the end I was expecting something more.. solid and powerful.

I stand cynical to his ideals and sceptical of his abilities.

The reason why he got elected is because his opponent had severe disadvantages: political ties with what the world see as an incompetent ex-president, wrong choice of candidacy for vice president, and a dramatic show of an almost no-show for the presidential debate, a tactical move which failed him.

Obama on the other hand had little pressure on him. He's the "little known", with faults of his own that has yet to be seen. He managed to play down expectations of him to create immediate change, hence right now the mentality is more of giving "Change" a chance. He's being cushioned by a more forgiving US and international scrutiny.

I can't say that I like him, but he has yet to do something I dislike, so for now I wish him all the best.

technically he's now at a point where he can't make it any much worse than it is, so any improvement is great relief.

and if it worsens the finger can be pointed at the Bush admin era for actually causing alll this much trouble to begin with. Either way, he's in a no-lose situation. Seldom happens. Just hope he doesn't screw up

He got Gaza issue to settle, economical crisis to handle, and countless others. I heard the Pakistan issue is slowly growing.
