well, don't play it just cause it seems nice.. gotta understand jazz to be able to play it proficiently
listen to some of the greats (scofield, metheny, wes montgomery, mclaughlin, larry coryell, joe pass)
and see if you enjoy what they do...
i am saying this coz lots of people don't really understand or find jazz listenable.. coz of tempo changes and the whole meandering within a fixed constraint that makes up the construct of jazz music.. you can start listening to vocal jazz just coz its more listenable and listen for the playing and the swing that drives the music.
if you decide to go down this path... learn the jazz progression (II - V - I) using (triads and 7th) chords and get used to playing in this progression in different keys with swing time... and add all the other nonsense like the scales and you can START learning about playing jazz...
dont think there are any jazz teachers in singapore though
