Hi,

Can i have some advise if a properly set up guitar neck would be a little warp at the front as i send my guitar for a fret evening job. But it seems that the guy gave it back to me with the neck warping a little at the front nearer to the headstock.

And he said that most guitars would have to release a little pressure on the front end to prevent buzzing and dead notes problem thus a warp occurs at the front.

Just wish to know if there's some truth to wat he said?

Thanks !

ur little 'warp' should b normal...its juz e relief...a bit of relief from somewhere between e 7th n 9th fret should be ok...its either that or a straight as an arrow neck,as long no buzzes n dead note...
ya can check it by pressing down a string at e 8th or 9th fret...hold down to e fretwires n not e middle of e fret aye...there should b a little gap between e bottom of e string n e fretwires...e gap should decrease gradually from e 1st till e 8th/9th...then while still holding on to e 8th or 9th fretwire, hold down e same string at e 17th fretwire...it should be level n no gaps,e bottom of e string should rest on all e fretwires from 8th/9th to e 17th...
it wouldnt b a problem if ya request for a totally straight neck or somethin that suits ya individually when sending it for a setup or neck adjustments...hehe \m/

Hi,

Thanks for the advise, but quite strange when i tested the neck at his shop the necks seem fine. But now i'm facing buzzing and dead on the low E and A strings.

I read up that it seems that adjustments to the truss rods would take some time to really stablize.

Can this buzzing be caused by the truss rod being unstable after it's being adjusted ?

And i'm only facing buzzing on the Low E and A. Would turning the Truss Rod be able to solve this problem? or is there other solutions to solve this ?

By the way i'm using an RG. Which direction would i turn to straighten the neck back ?

Thanks !

if you aren't sure, avoid doing it.

if you've switched string brands, expect some adaptibility issues. same goes for string gauge switch...

i'm not sure of the brand used... but it's set up by the shop.... tried higher the height of the trem stud seem to help a bit but is it advisable ?

cant tell ya that its wrong to solve e current prob on ur own cos guitars r 'meant to b tampered' instrument...but like subV did say, 'if ya arent sure, avoid doing it' esp neck related stuff...but if ur a fellow risktaker, then go ahead bro...maybe e self-exploration might lead ya to better know wat suits ya best in e future n more specific when ya send a guitar for setup or settin it on ur own...but if ya wanna be safe, ill hv to say send it to any gd guitar tech n enquire abt wat n why they do it a certain way or mayb alternatives to it...they should probably know better when they see e instrument itself...ya can also get books or manuals on guitar repairs n stuff n use it as a guide but nothin beats a gd 1-1 wif someone who knows it la...watever it is gd luck to ya bro n hope e prob resolves soon... \m/
