Here's an interesting thing.

A friend of mine asked me to do guitars for one of his songs. It is actually a spoken word piece but he wanted me to do heavy stuff over it.

The guitars come in around 0:17. All guitars are done by me.

This was done what, more than a year back. I was using my Ibanez Saber then so the thing sounds so much meaner. Also, this mix is my mix - the guitars are slightly louder because I needed to hear my inputs more clearly. The final mix (not this one) is balanced.

Hey man.

I really liked listening to that. Dug the mix and the tone. Sometimes guitars should be louder in the mix. The lead tone was especially good in this one which suited the heavier vibe.

The " oriental styled " sections and the effects were pretty well done. Overall the song gave me a vibe of Linkin Park meets Metallica ( in a good way ). Nice tones, production and direction.

The guitar parts are pretty much done. If you could have some better bass tones and groove layered on it. The thing is gonna sound even tighter and fuller.

Thanks Nano... I agree with you - sometimes the guitars are just mixed too low in a track that is screaming for more.

I can't remember exactly what I did for this one but I think I spent an abnormal about of time working on the recorded tracks - eq-ing and adjusting volume and adding efx and what not. Maybe that shows?

The final track actually suffered from some sort of phase problem with the cymbals... the bass & drums were redone and the guitar parts integrated better so its like a vocal song but that phase thing... ah well. Maybe when I see you online I'll send you the link. Spoken word though, might be odd sounding.

i likeeeeee.
ohh myy gawd. at 1:25 the sound started to become damn heavy. wahhh. my body starts to move.

but i felt that in the later part, the guitar became tooo overpowering.

interesting funktastic - why do you say the guitars get too overpowering? Is it about the volume? The amount of distortion?

I'm interested to hear your thoughts.

I would have liked to hear that last note held longer than you did with the other strings vibrating along.
Other than that, nice work.

fndjufri, yeah I think that would have been nice. If I recall, it was take... 80? 90? 100?! And I was impatient so I left it at that...

Goose, muxtape is down so I don't have the link to the full version. Lemme ask my friend if he has thrown it online somewhere else...
