Newbie thinking of making an album.

I was thinking to do an album (or at least a mini album) but i'm kinda on a low budget and i want at least a decent sound. Songs in this cd would be songs inspired by experiences i had with a girl (yeah its always them). But i'm worried about people stealing my music. Should i worry if i don't have a record label?

Or maybe someone could clarify with me the whole process.

try using mac. Garage band.
Cost = $0.
Mac = $$$$$$$
Lol. Yeah i saw garageband being used by don and drew at the podcast.sg tutorial thingy. It looked really similar to Mixcraft 3 which i'm using but more advanced.

My question was more turning to studio recording and copyright. I've been recording the whole time at home but the sound just isn't what i want. The sound that i've been wanting to do is kinda like a live studio performance. I've been trying to toggle around with by using multi tracking the recorded sounds and putting reverb and compression effects (default large hall for reverb and default live recording for compression with some customized settings). But i'm still not satisfied. ><

Anyone using Mixcraft could help me out? And about the copyright thing. I'm paranoid. ><

The music and the panning is awesome.. but the voice recording is a pity... i think he got the frequencies wrong or something... >< i think.

actually u ask bout e copyright thingy right.......damn i wanna know too. i think one suria drama has talk bout it,'danielle'. something like 'c.o.m.p.a.s.s.'. which i dun really know. sorry bro

you don't have to use a Mac. a pc works wonders as well if you know the right things to do. go download/buy some audio software like Cubase or others.

works really really good.

seriously, not mean to be rude.. on the copyright issue, millions songs outside might actually sounds like your songs already. if you have something recorded in a media(CD,Tape, PC). the creative is yours already. just need to put a date on it.
but, let just say your song is a damn great songs that even michael jackson is waiting to sing it... then michael jackson go record it without your permission and didn't credit you. you took him to court... do you think anyone can fight your case? and define copying a song?
anyway, you can check www.compass.org.sg . they are a organisation who keep track on the creative materials you have.
;)
cheers

you really have a point here.

But maybe marking out a procedure for us would help? I mean, it would just waste our efforts as budding/indie musicians.

Last i went to check at compass, you had to have a rather a few credible performances or something like that.

Crap. Watching MTV. There's like 17-20 year old new artists almost every week. Singapore isn't capable of that? ><

steal yr music not unless u're a mega superstar like madona robbie, etc or nobody would really care or even think of stealing let alone want to listen to yr songs: sory this my experiece don't think too highly ...

ouh. experience as it is, i still respect it. cos you might have gone through more. But thanks! didn't really think of it that way

totally agree with konsandy, do ppl even wanna listen to ur music in the first place, and is ur music really totally original? If u self-publish ur own CD, just send a copy to compass and u can be a member. I became mine after i released my own personal album , just send them a copy , its considered "published". they took awhile to process the application though.
