Hey soon,
It's great that playing those games kickstarted your interest in drumming. Different people pick up an instrument due to different reasons. If it was games that got you into drumming, then power to you.
Like what some have already mentioned, an electronic drumkit doesn't come cheap. There are various brands and models (Yamaha, Roland, Alesis, Hark etc) in stores here, like Yamaha (Plaza Singapura) and Swee Lee. Do a search on google on them. It will easily cost you anything from 1k to 4k though. Also, acoustic drumkits are very different from an electronic drumkit, if you are thinking of becoming a little more serious about your interest.
My advice is to hold on to your wallet first. Try out drumming at a friend's place or at a studio near you. Have a go at it or even better, have casual jams with people to get a feel if you really enjoy playing the drums. Only then, you can consider if want to invest your money in an electronic drumkit.
Happy drumming and have fun!
Thanks guys for all your advices.
I am pretty aware that this drumming is quite different from the real percussion drums.
As mention, I do understand the real drums are very expensive, and neither I could use it at home as my neighbour already express unhappiness before due to my PC's audio system. And mind you, my PC audio isn't those expensive ones, it is just a sub-$100 9 years old Altec Lansing 6" Sub Woofer that made my neighbour annoyed.
The reason I want to try on drummin' is because of
my JPOP I am listening, not the arcade games. I do notice that every time I listen to music, I always pay attention to the lows and the highs, which the percussion bass and treble comes in. I am an NSF now, and kind of tight on wallet, especally after spending $169 on a pair of 8g armature earphones. But seriously, SUperFi Pro 5 Extended Bass is making me very gian... I think I can call myself an audio enthuasist, but not a audiophile yet. I really hope I could cut corners somehow, else my bank account will be like another wall street crash.
The purpose of buying that to get the feel and rythem first as I do not seem to able to multi-task much.
Also, it is partially influenced by my 2 friends, whom are interested in Piano(not the classic, but modern electric piano) and Guitar repectively, I might just wanna add in as a drummer to so call "complete" a set. lol
@mus: Thanks, check out swee lee and saw the pricing.... I don't think I am ready to spent that money first since I have to strip my pants for that. OMG~!
OT: I do own a Yamaha sound card before during the Intel Pentium MMX days... the Midi performance is just superlative. It comes with a software Yamaha YG soft midi synth if i recall that I could install even on my system now. Perheps that is the ONLY Yamaha Audio products that I ever owned.
@jeepers
Thanks for explaining the difference. i am more to a stage to try to pick up the field, as mention, my house is a pretty old HDB. It does not have a sound proofing system, worse still, there are cracks on the walls and bit and pieces can drop off from the ceiling. lol!!
