Having tried out the 'traditionals' such as Ernies, Addarios, GHS and DRs, I began exploring alternative brands to see how different strings incorporate different feel, resistance in bending and 'touch' to my playing.
I chanced upon a brand of strings aptly named "Wild Horse" brought in by another guitar player who bought my amplifier and suggested a pack for me to try. In comparison to my regular GHS Boomers (10-46), the Wild Horse strings felt heavier and reacted to picking with a more robust response. While these strings will not give you Jeff Beck's tone nor impart the 'feel' of Clapton to your fingers, they do feel as if the string contain more metals of a higher density. My first pack lasted for 6-7 weeks without rusting and given that my palms are slightly sweaty, I do consider that as a feat!
