Hey check this out...

http://www.rockstar.sg/main.htm

They got a sexy Recital Room. Check the pictures and the equipment. It would be so nice to have the Xchanges there man. Then it qould be ever more practical if you wanted to include a small recording of the Xchanges. I can nominate myself as an engineer if need be.

Plus there are a hell of alot more instruments and amps on stage to make Xchanges more interesting. Plus theres 2 top range kits on stage already miked up. :D

Consider?

i for one would love to hold our soft drum xchange in such a beautiful and conducive environment.

as it is, in our current status of growth, we may not have the size n the financial flexibility.

together with the committee we're still working hard to get more people on board. one area of focus i am especially looking at is for as many working drum professionals to volunteer their time on a semi-regular basis, just to come sit in, share and generally act as "QC" for the topics being shared.

and importantly, to understand soft drum exchange is about helping to build and grow the community in a unbiased, welcome-to-all way. we do not cannibalise traditional 1-to-1 teaching models.

i hope one day our dreams of holding a soft drum xchange with as many as 100 (or more) drummers in a fantastic venue such as rockstar studios will become reality.

we must first visit the place and say Hi! first !!!

cheers

sweeeet! great find badger!

eh wait. i just read the equipment page. sounds wayyyyy like the studio nazrey was talking about? the tama masai warlord 7pc kit with the whole set of sabian paragons?

Currently eric is paying the rental for the wind symphony room by himself, no?

We could have exchanges at this studio, but provided we actually share the cost?

This recital studio is actually for rental. Not just for normal bookings such as studios. Rental meaning, book for longer hours, and you pay one overall fee (if im not wrong) not just for jamming.

woah with two kits,....DRUM BATTLE. woah that would be something to see eh. maybe get them soft guitarist in as well. haha. lets see who would be really cool to go up against each other. RudimentDrummer and Drum_Hobbyist oh yeah. that would be cool. i would want to hear metzalx play for some reason i have this impression that she just might be a prodigy. hmm.

but that studio does look awesome does anyone know the price and i mean if everyone is up to splitting the cost it shouldnt be a problem. right? yio chu kang. isnt that place supposed to be creepy? haha drum up the dead. oo. black metal. HAHA.

yeap jeepers... thats the place that i'm talking about..
i actuallie put up pictures i took in that studio, including the recital room in one of the thread here
anyway, that recital room is usually for rental...
usuallie are for close members ( re-confirm wif neal @ rss)

and those 2 drumsets, not really sure if they allow us to play on it...
coz the tama masai, its actuallie the owner's own drumset
and the pearl is actuallie miked up....
so both of them are sort of personal to him, but then again, maybe you guys can talk to him....

the thing is its about location...
last i went there, need to drop at serangoon mrt, take bus and walk about 5 mins...

the other thing is also, if we are finding it hard to pay monthly for a place like L-Cube, wat about paying the recital room which is way much bigger than L-Cube
9don't mean to talk bad about both of these places, they are still a few of the best jamming places around... absolutely no doubt)

Hello naz :D Yupz the masai is actually my personal baby and is not really for general usage BUT if you wish to have a try, im ok wit it, but take care as the drum is irreplaceable. The Pearl is open to all. Currently we have a total of 5 tama and 3 pearl drums excluding the Masai.

With rgds to pricing, as with everthing in life, we can try to work it out :). We can also offer a full studio block out if required. For a block out, a total of 2700sqft will be for your usage and this includes thre recital studio and ALL of the 4 rooms at your disposal. You have to see ROCKSTAR to understand so with that being said.....do drop by for coffe and a look around :)

As to how to get here, the nearest MRT is Kovan. Can walk but it takes ard 15 mins. Will check out the buses available and update u guys soon.

On a seperate note, for those interested, on display , we have a premiere CRAVIOTTO soild shell snare, a TAMA Bubinga masai snare, a TAMA Portnoy ALIBINO Limited edition snare, a DW Neil Pert Collecters Edition snare, a very special PEARL Japan only LIMITED EDITION REFERENCE snare and new to our collection, a Custom drum by Global...:D

Lol no, at this moment i'm still struggling with "Jenny was a friend of mine" by The Killers, so I'm definitely not a prodigy... O.o

I have this feeling you're a pro metal drummer though.

everytime got 2 drums... always do drum duel..
myte as well we change the name 'drum exchange singapore' to 'drum duel singapore'

hahaha.... duel sia... sounds so violent.... its supposed to be a "brotherly love" sorta thing (not gay though  hahahahhaa)

Look really nice. If we can work things out, why not? Let's keep things open still. But again, what DT brought up was also true. It's definitely not gonna be cheap. They are running a business afterall.

The pricing goes like this. For the recital room, 10 people and below the room costs, $80 per hour. Then 20 people and below is $120 per hour. Its kind of crazy.

whoa that's bloody insane! so say if we had decided to have this month's meetup there, it'd be like 400-500ish? dayyymmnn.

but then again, it's crazily priced cos of its sexxayyy equipment and do-up!

But not ANYONE can just go and use the Masei Kit cus it belongs to the owner, Thought the kit with 2 kick drums in the progressive room is really nice..
