yeah...regarding the Behringer pedals...has anyone tried them out yet?

heard they're made out of plastic..so i'm kinda worried about the durability factor..

actually..i need a compressor..so if anyone has tried the compressor from this line..could u let me know whether its worth getting?

Colin

i tried the behringer compressor but not the boss one so i dunno how to compare

but anyway, the compressor is pretty good imo, cheap man! really makes ur chords smooth and stuff, compresses it hahaha. but one thing it's the plastic the disadvantage. but as shredcow said "so long as you dont JUMP on ur pedals, i dont see why plastic is a problem". haha i myself have a plastic danelectro pedal, and it's still brand new, just took care of it!

ive tried all off them out... the distortion is crapp... it sounds like fart... but the overdrive works pretty well... the wah is not bad.. but under wrong settings can sound like gimmicky shit... their multi effects is not very bad.. i own one of the multi effects from berhinger... their amp modeller is my favourite... it can model marshall amps and peavy style amps quite accurately.. .and it boasts distortion too!

one of them was featured in the GEAR NEWS thread... reviews will be up in due time. plastic is nothing new- Danelectro did it before Behringer.

i wouldnt say its the plastic construction itself thats a turn-off...its the overall design/build of the behringer stuff. the whole thing felt extremely light, flimsy and cheap..no positive feel when the pedal is stepped on,the switch didnt seem to contact properly.

danelectro is an example of how to make cheap pedals out of plastic and still have them feel reasonable solid..i would say the metal baseplate has alot to do with it.

i hate the way ur suppose to put the battery in.you gotta use somethin sharp to poke the sides and release the cover.man.its really a turn off.

for me, i feel the ultra metal is OKAY. its quite good for its price but if your looking for something more, you may have to get others.

Dun mind me asking,
Has anyone opened up any of the Behringer pedals,
especially the Drive, Dist & EQ peds ???

Heard a rumour that they are all digital...
wondering if there's any truth to it ~

I haven't seen one yet, but I can make the following assumptions.

Tone related pedals, like dist, eq, comp, od, wah....etc. Will still be fully analog circuit. Due to cost of production and it's the tried and tested best way to do these kind of circuit.

Why people say it's like digital could be because of behringer adoption of advance mass production technique. Which is to use Surface Mounted Technology. These will look like you PC motherboard and discrete components will be miniscule, even they are fully analog.

Advantage: Mass production orgy, low cost so is cheap, consistent quality control, should be rugged if engineered properly

Disadvantage: As good as disposable, use and throw when problem, as good as not repairable or modable. Production method is frown upon by audiophile savvy people, likely have the plasticly feel.

Ya lor ...
wanted to get them to mod ...
but if it's really SMT ... hai ...
:(

What isnt good abt SMT?

It is cuz you cant quite mod it?

heh.. I see you got quite a few modded ones.

My pedals are modded by Randolf.

was hoping that behringer would be a cheaper alternative to BOSS,
den can buy and send for more mods ~
lol ~!

:smt013 what the heck man..

All SOFTIES.. Lets go and rip a behringer pedal apart. We'll see if it is SMT.

Person who contributes most gets the parts. We'll proomise not to take any. :smt064

Difficult but not impossible. But take a reality check, would you rather mod it in the first place, is it worth while??

Unless someone can take the time to investigate the circuit fully and implement a mod which makes it not only better than it originally was, but rather as good if not better than those established modded or unmodded boutique pedals.

And you also need time for the marketplace to become fertile for your product, could take years.

OK ...!!

i've called alot of ppl... dealers, retailers and distributors of Behringer products,
They were very polite but they duno ...
:?

Got fed up,
called Behringer Corp.
Customer service was nice ... but the tech was out for lunch.

Just called the Tech (again)

mixers, Di's ..etc still analog....
but
ALL THE BEHRINGER STOMPBOXES ARE Surface Mounted Technology (SMT/Digital) !!!

the inside of behringer pedal can be found over at harmony central effect forum. Someone from there bought one when just came out last year, dismantle everything and took some detailed photo of it....
