Hi, i'm new to this forum (boy am i glad Singapore has such forums) and i've been practicing drumming for years, either jamming with frenz casually or practicing at home with my hands and anything i can hit on (quite sad, lol).

Well i tot drumming will be another shortlived passion for me, but after so many years i find myself still attracted to it, haha.
So i've decided to get the real thing to practice at home, even though my neighbours may complain (HDB).

Have a low budget (ard 400-500), wanna ask you guys whether is it better if i get a 2nd hand drumset (saw a few on yahoo auctions) or get a brand new entry set?

Also, i'm a left hander, have been playin in an unorthodox way in jamming studios(they dun't let you adjust the positions n itz all default right handed, dammit), this may sound noob (i'm noob anyway), but is it better to continue practicing lefthand or change to the more conventional righthand playstyle? Or is there no right or wrong to this?

everyone, i mean everyone is a noob once. u should check out the drums classified in this forum where u can find used set at very good price.
welcome!

haha yea. everyone was once noob.. and playing open handed has its benefits too yea. keep it up dude. i think get a second hand kit dude. but if you had a bigger budget things will be much easier

maybe u could buy some second hand kits .. then go home and rearrange the kit ... being left handed is also good in some ways ... i advise u to stay on your left hand cause you will feel "normal " when playing the drums . . .

WELCOME WELCOME WELCOME TO SOFT !!!! ( LOLS )

i suggest you to play open hand.. like left handed style.. den go jamming or gig no trouble.. no need rearrange set

There is no right or wrong using (left or Right hand).....John Blackwell himself is Left-Handed, but he also train himself to try to play like any Right-handed Drummer. The advantages here is very great to a Left-Handed Drummer......I tried to play Left-Handed in Drumming, but it's tough for me (anyway this is what I really want actually)...Kekekeke...I think it's beneficial & looks very cool man.

With a Budget of S$500.00 (not including Cymbals here) you can either get a Resale-Drum kit or a Brand New one eg PEACE DRUM (I am playing this kit when I'm having my drum lesson in the Music Lab)....great sounding drums for that kind of price around your budget I think.

and Welcome to SOFT....drummer.
