Needing help!!!

Frankly speaking, i don't know anything about what y'all are talking about here but my friend got inspired when he saw me taking up drumming and he, although a few years late, is now wanting to buy an electric guitar.

So being the kiasu singaporean that i am, im helping him, choosing the best guitar for him, entry level, fits his budget, and damn outright good for the price.

So, instead of confusing me with a Fender and a Bicycle's Fender, it'll be great to get some of you expert people to shed some light my friend's issue.

He's budget is around 350 - 500. I saw some package deals from epiphone at swee lee.com and it seems good but i don't know if its good. Like drums, there are good but affordable drums and there are the one made from plywood.

So, an affordable yet good for its price guitar, with a standard amplifier and a distorter that fits the bill, is simply what my friend needs..

Any help that any of u guys contribute i follow ahead with an advanced thank you.

regards.

Some advice

Hi,

I think its best if you go around to all the guitar shops and ask your friend to try out the guitars and compare the prices and guarantee. i.e. after sales support. You can pm me if you want more details. I won't go into details here asI don't want to cause controversy as I'm quite biased in my shopping.

ah okay... well my friend, is the wah, good deal on the spot buy. And im telling to him, better not suffer the same fate as i did. Which was buying my first drum set which practically did'nt have washers in its lugs!!

What do u all think of the epiphone Flying-VeeWee RaveRig which comes with a amplifier or the umm Epiphone Les Paul PeeWee RaveRig Package???

issit good?? and what distortion do u guys think would be great?? we play mostly cover songs from many famous bands... to name, avenged sevenfold, mcr and such...

thanks!!!

dont waste money lah! haha. check out 2nd hand market, got some good stuff.

and i wont recommend epi LPs unless they're the higher end ones, or unless u get a gem from a standard.

cos he's a drummer and does not know better.

anyway thread starter, since you wanna help, help all the way.

there are TONS and TONS of the same query asked. scroll down, go to the next page and read.

also subversion have written tons of reviews in the guitar/reviews section. go read up.

also, if your friend wanna help himself, ask him to do some research and read up as well.

Its almost like asking a french chef to recommend good nasi goreng...

Best way for your friend is to get him to sign up on soft, and get the usual "google lah" or "use search function lah aiyoh" replies for a while, but then thats when he will slowly learn to appreciate the different outlooks/functionalities on/of guitars and eventually he will be able to see what is best for him...tell him don't shy :DHAHASince he is the one who will be paying and playing the guitar, this proxy arrangement is destined to be doomed otherwise :D

thanks for all the replies mate.. yeah i do agree with snuffleupagus that this proxy will go otherwise if the load of info is not shared with me and my mate who is buyin the guitar. I have him go to this site and read up on most of the replies and threads on guitar selection but he was amazed with the 82 pages of threads in this section ... haha anyways, since now i got to know that the guitar package from swee lee pretty is pretty much the peavey drum set of guitars ( no offence to fellow peavey users) i think i'll bring him around peninsular and check out some of the guitar shops there.

can stop by nigel's shop too..heehee.

ciao bonito!

hey dude u can read all the other threads abt this or get ur friend 2 read them.or u can pm me 4 suggestions bcos i, like enigma,am very biased.haha
