Need some recommendation on a 4Str P-bass

..

just gg off pt here

reminds me of me in 2002. was sooooo obsessed with flea, started to read up on his playing and gear and found out about the stingray.

so i took some time to save up (i just started my new job then) and waited for the right one to come by. 1 year later was a proud owner!

now i have 3 musicmans :)

think u can afford to save a little more to get a better deal. its worth your while :D

actually, flea recorded with a Wal. i'm not sure which albums but i read abt it somewhere. he actually posed with the MM

cherns, not to oppose you too... but i've read up a few times that if you had a low budget... it's advisable to get a cheaper bass and spend more on your amp... low range basses... don't really matter... the amps the one that can make a cheap bass sound better. Don't know if anyone can clarify this... heh i only play with one conked bass and a regular amp...

anyway true lah, your amp makes alot of difference. but also goes down to your usage, do you always play at home? if you go down to the jam studio often, the amp is definitely not the limiting factor

..

flea has used fenders, alembics, spectors and wals. the wal was used on blood sugar sex magik. stingray was for one hot minute

haha i may be hypocritical but from my own experience, the first rig i ever used, when i started playing bass, was an ibanez gsr 200 and an ibanez 10w amp (shit). the first thing i upgraded was the amp, i got a sw65. never regretted. you can imagine how shiok the feeling was

No point getting any bass be it cheap or good if it doesn't feel/sound good in the first place. Than no matter what amp you use, the sound won't be good.
Would you be motivated to play?

Also no point getting a 60++W amp if you can't turn the volume past 9 o'clock at home. Unless you sound proof your room or carry it out often to gigs.

As long you are happy with your tone, who cares what you use.
