Need some advise on what guitar to get.

Bro, the guitar that youre talking about is the RGR321EX or RG321MH?how much will the RGR321EX cost after discount?yea, thats what i basically planned to do but i have just come across a very nice looking guitar on the net, the PRS
SE Paul Allender model. it comes with 24 frets and a wide thin neck.Has anyone tried this guitar?

quote soyzabean: ive tried S series guitars before but the tone is not as heavy as the Rg series....

i believe the Ibanez guitars weren't conceived to fulfil a certain genre per se; 'heavy' isn't relating to the guitar in its entirety, amps play a large part in this fulfillment. as you can see here, the guitarist in 1349 plays an S-series (pic), so it has its application in heavy music.

soyzabean, you may be interested in this video if you're interested in the SE Allender.

I tend to prefer a Jackson soloist over an Ibanez for the superstrat look. Not sure if it's within your budget though.

Herman Li of DragonForce uses an Ibanez S series. So it's definitely heavy enough since it can do powermetal.

hey sub, yeah, im aware that the amp and pickups greatly affect the tone of the guitar but when i compared the RGT42DX and S520 side by side on the same amp and they both use inf1 and inf2 humbuckers if im not mistaken except that the s520 has covers on it and the RGT42DX gave a much fuller sound. This might also be because of the neck-thru construction but thats what i felt.....furthermore i don't want a floyd rose guitar :D Thank you very much for the insight though.

Hey almond, yea man, checked out the vid already, thx alot.it sounds pretty good to me,especially the cleans.Has anyone ever tried this guitar or knows where to get one and how much it cost?any help is much appreciated.

List of Ibanez fixed bridge guitars you can go for:
-Ibanez SZ
-Ibanez RG Fixed

Other guitars (not experienced with them though)
-Schecters

Yea, the cleans are nice! It's a sound unique to the PRS tremolo which adds a subtle overtone/chime. The stoptails don't sound that way unfortunately.

Since the SE models are all around the 1k range, I expect this one to be the same, though it has considerably more bling factor than the rest which may up the cost a little. The video also said it's based on the Custom SE, so you may like to try that out at Davis for a similar feel.

deathism: Hmmm okay, but I've already modified my post, as I felt that I have misinterpreted the threadstarter's latest question (I think he's asking about the SE Allender).

Thanks though. =)

hopefully its within my budget :D do u guys think its worth the money?the bat inlays aren't exactly my cup of tea but the purple quilted top looks cool....on the PRS site it says the neck carve of the Paul Allender SE is wide thin whereas the Custom SE is wide fat therefore the feel might not be similar after all.I would really like to try out the wide think neck, for all you know it might feel like a wizard neck :D haha, anyway thx alot for the help almondx

Hey marksman, I've definitely considered the ibanez SZ's , the white SZ320EX looks class man.I've also tried out the RGR321EX, feels good but for some reason the strings on the SZ320EX were much easier and comfortable to bend.Might have been because the strings on the SZ320EX were ernie ball's and the ones on the RGR321EX were D'addario's.....

I am currently gassing for a schecter c-1 hellraiser, but sadly it's way out of my budget, haha. trying my best to organize a trip down to singapore next week to try some out....

I feel that as long as it feels comfortable to play with, it's what you should get.

With the tone not being what you wanted, you can still get pickups to fit your playing style.

All the best to you in your search. =)

yea, currently looking for one that looks good and feels comfortable to play.like u said, if the tone doesnt suit my style, i'll just swap them out, haha. anyway thanks alot bro, your help is much appreciated.

My custom 22 has the wide thin neck. The proportions are similar to the wizard II, perhaps the back is not as flat and sits into the palm a little firmer and deeper. That said, the PRS is a 25" scale while the Ibanez is a 25.5" scale instrument and fingerboard radius differs quite a bit as well ie. PRS is 10" while the Ibanez is approx. 15.8". However I think that if you like the wizard II you'll like the PRS wide-thin.

make sure to remove the price tag when entering malaysia

you won't be tax for bringing the guitar out of Sin
but you may be taxed for bringing new guitar into MY

oh, ok almondx , that means the prs frets are not as wide as the ibanez wizard II frets right?Thx alot for the info bro, i plan to try them out before making a decision.

The Rg321 is still one of the main options, but the prs looks nicer :D one thing about ibanez guitars is that they have a generic look.

yea ratboy, thats what i planned to do.Ain't too smart walking into customs with a brand new guitar with its price tag still on it, haha. 'erm, what? new guitar?Oh no, i just carried it all the way from malaysia to singapore to show my cousin, and now im bringing it back again'

the RGR321 (pic) is one of the most enjoyable guitar that came my way. i already own the RG321 but the former has something diff to offer tone-wise so i bought it anyway. yes, the RGs do look a little jaded in design but if these offer some preferred playability/ tone, you'd do well to invest in one.

if you are in SG & would like to acquier the Ibanez SZ, i might just be able to put a good word up for you. 8)

was @ Davis today but didn't get to try the PA PRS- store was crowded...

yeah the RGR321.. i tried that some time back in sweelee warehouse! but i didnt like the cleans, or maybe it was the amp that i plugged into..
lotsa bite for trebly solos, thats my take on it..
regarding PRSes, the glossed neck, slighly heavier body and smaller frets all minus playability... comparing and RG to it, its really 2 different guitars...

dont worry too much, upon trying these 2 guitars i'm sure u'll make up your mind instantly..

i did have an rg321mh with seymour duncan JB in the bridge that i wanted to trade for a trem guitar.. dont know if you're intrested
