... er, I think what Dime means is eye contact, which is important. Don't stare lah wait they scared sia lol

Congrats and good luck!!! GO COOK YOUR HEART OUT (not literally)! :D Then come back and open restaurant k?

Eye contact. Prove that you're hardworking. Friendly personality. Willing to learn. Perseverence. What not.

Give me the link or the full name of the competition.

Well i was taught some basic skills for interviews before...

Firstly, always try to keep your calm, be confident, its the key to a good interview. Also, don't forget this, its important. Brush your teeth and rinse it well so it smells damnn good. This helps in your overall confidence (really really works, you won't feel as comfortable with bad breath right?)

Secondly, as mentioned, try to maintain eye contact, don't let your eyes wonder about, if u are really nervous, maybe try to look at the interviewers forehead instead? Don't look at the floor whatever your do, and try to keep your hands away from other body parts, like scratching your neck or whatever.

Thirdly, watch your speed of talk, don't go too fast! be conscious of this, but not too much, or u will be read off as very nervous. Alot of people tend to speed up as they talk and from what i know, interviewers hate this. Just try to pause once in awhile to remind yourself, but try not to go "errr... ahhh" too often.

Lastly, your personality counts alot! yours is a cooking competition, so you do not have to pretend to be someone else, be yourself, be honest and be determined.

Well thats what i can say for now, it all depends on yourself really, all the best for this competition man! hope i helped abit..

if they ask you a difficult question or something, don't stammer and rush to answer. sit back, take your time, think, maybe rub your chin or something. it makes you seem thoughtful and adds weight to your words.

congratulations on getting that far! you must be really talented and hardworking, keep it up!

wow awesome you must be some cook.

Practice a nice natural smile in front of the mirror, and ALWAYS ALWAYS give yourself ample time to reply. Don't leave the guy hanging, but don't charge in with the answer immediately. Practice with friends!

Good luck!

dude here's a tried and tested technique.

1. Write down some questions that you think they'll ask
2. Practise your answers.
3. Get a friend to ask them to you.
4. Answer and Video everything ( if you can )

You'd be surprised how much is revealed of your body language when you review the tape.

+1 to ac
+1 to apalcos

to add on.....you might wanna memorise your well-formulated answers to the questions you thought the interviewers would ask. The answers should reveal as much potential, positive stuff you have as possible.

Think about
1. why should you get the scholarship instead of tom, dick or harry (but humility is key...don't bash ppl up to show off)
2. how you would contribute to the school or society or whatever when you get the scholarship (you know....like in UK, there's a chef who teaches bums to cook so that they can get jobs to lead a better life, somewhere along that line......nobody likes selfish people....)
3. why you are so passionate about cooking
4. how to bridge the cultural gap and get used to life overseas (in case the school scared you break bond to come back coz you're unable to be independent)

Since this is a scholarship, pls formulate your answers to show that you're super duper willing to learn despite all difficulties and language barrier. Not ya ya papaya say you wanna teach ppl there to cook mee siam or cha kuay teow or what...althoough culinary exchange is possible to so call sharpen one another's culinary skills.

Memorise, memorise and memorise and practise and practise until you can say it naturally, convincingly and sincerely.

THEN....during the interview.....even if the interviewers ask you totally different questions, try to bridge and bring out those points that you have memorised and practiced.
