yo guys! anyone uses it on their axe? how does it sounds? and i dont really understand what the dimarzio webbie is saying..can any kind soul explain to me? hee thanks a mil :D

ehm..here what is on the webbie

Take a Super Distortion®, include a mini-switch for series-parallel or single-coil operation and you have the Dual Sound®. The extra flexibility puts cleaner, crisp tone choices at your control. Lighten up on the lead tone in parallel operation, then roar back in with the standard series position. Use the single-coil mode along with your neck or middle pickup for chopping rhythm tones. If you need brighter, more transparent sounds from your bridge or neck pickup without sacrificing wide, singing crunch, the Dual Sound® nicely fills the bill.

whats the mini-switch and parallel thing?

mini switch is that little toggle switch u see on certain guitars. if i had a digicam i'd post pics of mine... it can be used to control almost anything. coil tapping, LED lights, lasers, stuff like that...

as for parallel wiring... this might help

It's difficult to reliably quantify this difference but I'll go out on a limb and describe pickups wired in series as having a bit more midrange punch than the same pickups wired in parallel. Usually. No guarantees.

ooh okie..thanks for the fast reply..but if a guitar doesnt have a mini-switch..is there ways to install 1? if not..then theres no way we can play around with the pick up?

Best pic i could find online.

If a guitar doesnt have a miniswicth, simply install one. that would have to constitute drilling a hole in the pickguard though. but worth it IMO. I have 2 on my RG :P

Uh... most commonly splitting pickups is controlled via a pull-push pot, which in essence replaces either your tone or volume knob. what it does is that it still works like a normal knob, except you can pull it out a little and push it back in to activate the coil tapping.

ooh what if the guitar no pickguard? so for eg. replace the volume knob for a pull-push 1..it will still be able to control the volume of it? hmm..how much does it cost to do all these things wo?

so what the miniswitch do to the dp101 is juz switching it from parallel and series? then whats the single coil operation for?

no pickguard then its a little more complicated. :(

like i said, a push pull pot functions exactly the same as the knob it replaces with the added function of pushing and pulling.

not too sure about the dp101, but the "single coil operation" is known as coil tapping. it basically turns a humbucker into a single coil.

oh and it cost me about 15 bucks to get two mini switches installed, if memory serves.

If no pickguard, then no.

If there's a pickguard, then by all means. Though it lowers the resale value. Not that I care, I aint gonna sell my baby.

hmm..installing a push-pull pot..is splitting the pus..like u said..what does it do huh?

Okay... maybe this is a little drawn out over a forum lol. if you wanna add me to msn, drop me a PM.

Splitting the pickups is very simple. A humbucker is essentially putting two single coils together. Splitting the humbucker means that you "split" the humbucker, and instead of getting a full humbucker sound, you use only half the humbucker. I.e. transforms a humbucker into a single coil.

Lol but i think not much qns le..hopefully :x

hee last qn..
so the humbucker will still remain its original tone right? is this knows as coil splitting also?

Coil splitting is the option of splitting the humbucker.

Most commonly, when you -pull- the pull push pot, you split the humbucker.

When you -push- it back in, you revert to using the whole humbucker.
