Need Help PJ Bass Wiring...

Hi...

Me (dummy) and my son (bass rookie) both plan to modify one of his PJ bass guitar. He wants to change the neck PBass pup to EMG-P but he also plan to keep the bridge with SD quarter pounder... is it viable ?

The wiring plan will be something like this:

you have to wire it separately as the emg is active with the preamp built into the pickup itself. the SD jazz is a passive pick up so an external preamp is required to drive it active.

the emg tone is passive so both pick ups can be wired to it.

your layout for the control knobs should be..volume for P, volume for passive SD J and tone control.

you will need a ground wire from the bridge for the SD Jazz but NOT for the emg.

there will be volume variation between the two.

the EMG X pickup set P/J will be a good no hassle option. its alnico magnets and noiseless.
