Hi softies since i am going to buy my first tube amp in my life, i have some questions here, hope you could give me some advices!!! Really appreciated!!!

Due to my budget, i am only focusing on those tube amps below 400 SGD, i use a fender strat and mainly play blues and blues rock like Clapton songs, i have these two options:

1: Vox lil night train
2: VHT Ultra 6 Special

could you please tell me wat are the pros and cons of these two? which is better sounding and quality? Any other recommendations around this price range?

Hope to hear from you soon!!!

Best Regards

Justin

"Better" is subjective. The Lil' Night Train has a Vox-meets-Marshall feel to it whereas the VHT is quite like a Blackface Fender in some ways. As always, the best way to know is to bring your guitar down and try it for yourself.

Thanks for your info! U mean the VHT is somewhat like the Fender Blues Junior?

Between the two, I would pick the Lil' Night Train. If you can however, give the Marshall Class 5 a whirl too.

Thanks for the input bro! Will try the marshall as well! Btw how much is the marshall class 5?
Between the lil night train and VHT, i would like to take the VHT actually cos its cheaper haha! I just want the typical fender strat sound actually as i am using a strat... As you mentioned the VHT would resemble a fender amp. But i got to try out before deciding ! Thanks a lot!!!

Actually, any reason you're ruling out solid state amps?

Thanks for you info brother!!!
Tell you the truth, i have never played a full tube amp before! Just wanna try out haha! Plus the amps i mentioned are not that ex either, so would like to get one!
Which one you recommend bro?

Hmmm... My personal opinion... I haven't played any of the tube amps mentioned here so I can't much for them. To me, buying a tube amp is akin to making an investment... If I really wanted a tube amp that's suitable for the bedroom, I'll purchase a AC15 or Laney VC15 for that matter. However, you can get a good sounding solid state amp for 400 bucks though

Thanks man! But the Ac15 is out of my budget haha!
Would like to try one out though!

Just my opinion, an AC15 is way too loud for the bedroom. I've never received a complaint from my neighbors until I got one! No use getting a 15W tube amp and playing it on level 1 all the time.

How bout trying out the Yamaha THR 10? Fantastic amp for the bedroom IMO. Thinking of trying out one of the newer models.

Woah... You've got edgy neighbours there bro! I played volume 3 no complaints!

Thanks man! now city music onli got the AC 15C1 amp le, no more AC 15 any more right?

Technically speaking, AC15 is a specification, while the models can differ depending on the series. I had an AC15H1TV, which was the Heritage Collection AC15. That was one LOUD amp.

The AC15C1 "variant" of the AC15, some design and parts changes I think. I personally owned a AC15C1 and I think its a fantastic amp, abit heavy though.

Not sure about the price if the Class 5, but you can try giving Davis Guitar a call since they're the official distributor here.
