Need help for bass drum

Hi guys, I wld like to cut a hole in the bass drum skin for placement of a drum mic for live events. Any one has an idea of where to get it done properly or how to do it w/o potentially spoiling the skin? My church is having an event in 3 weeks and I wld like to get it done asap. thanks

won't spoil. just the front right? we did it for a gig too, just compass and razor. i think. should be okay.

thks for the reply daltonsim, do the edges come out smooth? the last thing i want is to make a big ugly hole in the front of the church drum set hah anyway, supposing there are no holes in front of the bass drum, where is the ideal position for the kick mic? i experimented placing it behind the set where the beater is and the sound seems more full than when placed in front but it tends to pick up the springs / beater sound. any comments?
