i just sold my rhythm traveller recently.. cos i didnt like playing without sound. ya. so now im planning on getting an Edrum set cos i live in a condominium.

whats a good set to get? my budget is about 2k-2.5k
i was thinking of getting the DTXPRESS III SP. is that a good choice? or something by roland? thanks lots

roland v drums are always the best, but the highest end is about 8k. i suggest you save up abit more money and get the yamaha dtxtreme. the one with real drum skins. not the dtxtreme 2. dtxtreme 2 is a waste of money.

Ive got a Roland TD8 which is my savior living in an apartment and all.It has the mesh heads which are quiet, and you can play with your headphones on and sound like a GOD :supz: Its fantastic to play as it feels like the real thing, and you can even "tune" it the way you want.

New version is the TD12. Very expensive

td8 is about 3-4k if i'm not wrong.. td12 is bout 6k. but it's a sweet kit man! swee lee bb has it as demo set..
the most expensive one is td20.. 10k if i remembered correctly.

Yeah your right lepids TD8 did cost me $4k with a HUGE discount about 5 years ago. But it is worth every cent. I love it.

yeah boogieman, i played it before.. i really like roland kits. very customizable and worth the every cent.. but 4k is abit too much for me to spend!!!

there're some kits worth considering as well.. td10 and td12..

www.rolandus.com

have some demos there.:)

Wow, 4k also too much for me to spend lol.

I did play on a DTXPRESS II before though, the feel was kinda far from playing on a real kit.

if u can find the old yamaha DTxtreme, that would be good. the one was the nearest ekits i've played with a somewhat near acoustic feel. the one with yellow shells..

ekits are just that expensive..

yeah.. but i dont have lotsa cash to spend anyway =/

2.5k wont get a very good set issit? i just want a basic 5 piece set more than enuff liao. haha.

DTXpress 3 no good? i saw the demo and it looks pretty okay.. fits my budget too.

All electric kits don't feel like acoustic kits....
If ever they came up with a electric kit that felt exactly like an acoustic, i'm sure it would be the best selling kit...

For me, the Dtxpress rubber pads feel close enough for me to be able to play normally. I wouldn't be able to do so on the vdrum mesh heads, those are like trampolines, utterly unrealistic with too much give...

i'm using TD 3 Roland, quite good actually. good sound. I played DTExpress at Yamaha. The sound not so good. very electronic. And by the ways I bought TD 3 for $1.8 k inclusive of the rack just recently. the rubber feeling is also not bad..I think there's another brand Inova. They sell it at Swee Lee too but according to the seller, Once I've asked them they say the sound not so good.

Aiyah...go to swee lee and find out yourself la... :? i think you can get a td 6 or 8. but save money la..get yourself a td 3 (i think it's the basic set with good sounds around)and save the rest 1.2k. and treat the best person around you with that 1.2k or go to Geylang or even buy a nice real feel practice pad available at DRMP, which is the best tool around for practicing strokes, or a comfy stool that protect your back after a long practice on your set or even a camcorder to let you record your playing and catch those cool fill that you've did accidentally moments or even the Roland Amp to go with that Ekit. but if you have the money to spend go then it's your choice. but my opinion is that getting the best, cheapest, basic set is good enough. go to rolandus.com to see johnny rabb play demo on td3. it's about the skill and not about the grandest set that makes a drummer outstanding (well depending on how you see it actually and opinions). actually me too want to buy the td8set but after a looooooooong thought, i've went for the basic entry which is td3. :D
