aye, if its an issue of cutting through rather than actual volume, just pump the mids

Advice on my Bass Guitar

Thank you for the inputs, i finally resolved my woes on my bass guitar.

what i did was to adjust the split pick-ups by 2mm closer to the strings and guess what??!!! Finally, the sound improved a lot!!! :mrgreen:

you dont need to change or buy any 'bass boost' for the bass you are using.

for passive basses, turn volume full and boost/cut from amp.
if you amp has a gain control knob, DO NOT turn it up full or it will distort your tone. set it at 10 0' clock then increase or decrease volume as needed.
set you bass control on the amp to 1 o' clock, treble to 11 o' clock.
set the mids to 12 noon and cut / boost as you hear what sound you want.

This one is more detailed, will try to do it later at home when i practice.

Last wednesday, tried it out with the big Amps in the church... and with the current adjustments, the bass sounds so good... i will replace the stock pickups with an SD Quarter Pounder later to further improve the sounds. Other than that, sounds pretty cool to for a PBass. :mrgreen::mrgreen:

again, amp eq-ing will be in vain if the soundman taps directly from your bass or board. but if it's a problem of bandmates not being able to hear you, it will help

pbass + flatwound = really yummy vintage sound. i love it...

a few things u can do.

1. get active onboard pre-amps electronics.
2. get a di box, mxr, or bddi to shape the frequencies, etc..

yes!!! after the tweaking and adjustments... woah... sounds very vintage...:twisted: maybe after a few months,.. i will de fret my bass... see how it goes from there.
