Neck Warp

Guys im using an Ibanez, i saw someone say something abt guitar with Wizard neck tend to warp more easily? How to not let the neck warp? It will warp under what condition huh

no too worry my friend, all my RG necks have not warped since the day they entered my domestic premises. 8)

yes, Ibanez RG necks are thin & prone to warping, but that's half the story. in fact, ALL guitar necks warp under certain conditions. for Ibanez RG guitars especially, they are more prone to warping if:

*you lean them against the wall/ lie them down flat on the ground (applies to all guitars with tilted heastock). PLEASE invest in a guitar stand...

*you expose it to constant temperature changes-

1.if you are in an air-conditioned room & you have your air-con on/ off constantly, it's gonna affect your guitar's neck.

2.if you transfer your guitar from a warm place to a cold place (vice-versa). eg: your air-conditioned room to playing a gig in the middle of a hot afternoon/ from your warm car boot to an air-conditioned jam studio

**however, please note that it's a warp concern only if you repeatedly expose your guitar to constant temp changes...

*you equip your guitar with a thicker gauged string set, Ibanez RGs are equipped with a set of .009 in the factory

Hmm, does this mean Ibanez necks can't handle gauges 10 and above?

if you let the ibanez be resident of an air-conditioned room, doesn't matter if it's in a case or otherwise. the thing is if you are gonna take it somewhere else, let it adapt first before you play.

eg: you have your ibanez in a bag/ case in an air-conditioned room & you are set to bring it over to a friend's place which isn't air conditioned. when you reach there, what a pro would do is to open the case/ bag & let the guitar adapt to a the new environment say for 10min before you play. but this precaution is often practised over in temperate countries where temp diff is a concern...

poo: i assume you are refering to the Wizard necks: the ibanez necks can handle thicker than .009 set, but please expect an adverse reaction, sometimes it doesn't happen, so good for you. my RG560 has a set of .0095 in there- no adversity thus far... in any case the truss rod is there for you to rectify your guitar's bow if the need arises... 8)

Which thus brings me to think about this. Scalloped necks with heavier gauge strings. It shouldn't warp eh? Assuming it's a strat neck, more mass so even though it's scalloped, it'll still be a tad stronger than an Ibanez wizard right? But then again, almost no one uses .10s or heavier on scalloped necks =p

fender necks, scalloped or otherwise, are generally stronger than RG wizard necks. my fenders have straight necks since day 1...
